i think cats are some what intelligent after a few years owers is 10+ i lost track but shes around 93 in cat years... me and my mooma where chattin thismorning witch is a few mins ago and the cat walks in and starts sniffin stuff... then she sniffs my dads closet and looks in it... next thing you know shes opening the door with her paw lol...

Our kitten could do that wire doors, but he'd always get his head stuck in the half-opened door.

I can talk to my cat. I have no idea what I'm saying, but I'm sure it's something.

Me: "Mrrooooow?"

Her: "Miou!"

"Meeeeeooooww!"

"Mrirp!"

"Prrp?"

"Mrrrrreeeoow"

"Mrow?"

The she usually just gives me a "You're totally nuts" kinda look, and stalks off...

Heh, yeah, I do the same thing with my cats. They're ace. I have staring contests with mine... the sad thing is that they lose intrest before I do :cat:

hahaha, I can imagine what she would be posting on her own forum right now about her conversations with you ;P

i do the same thing wth humans.. they're not nearly as receptive though.

How can you hate cats?!?!?!

They are so cute!! And they are so damn funny sometimes.

My cat used to run up a slide in our garden and then slide back down it for fun. Not anymore mind. He's a fat ass now and besides. No more slide.

Still, I dont understand hatred of cats. Makes no sence to me....

My cat's name is Mr. Jinks.

I think he is actually twice as smart as my dog. My dog will walk into our hallway bathroom because the tiles are cold in there. When he walks in, he closes the door with his tail by accident. It is quite wierd, because he does it at least 3 times every day.

My cat, on the other hand, knows how to open doors. He usually sticks his paw underneath the door and pulls it open. Every day when I come home from school, he is sleeping on my bed. When I pet him, he blinks his eyes and then rolls over on his back because he wants me to pet his belly. It's really funny. :E

Oh, I do the same thing that Brian Damage does.

I say "Meow"

and he replies with "Reeow"

It can go on for like 2 minutes, then he goes back to sleep or goes outside.

Heheh, my cat actually used to open doors with handels. And I didnt teach him how either. Clever little kitten he was. Not so bright anymore, I think he is looseing it slightly now....

One of my cats started peeing in the toilet on her own... if only she'd flush..

I prefere dogs to cats.Much more loyal animals. Also my dog is pretty intelligent we can have conversations in English.(Not that he's speaking English)Heres an example:

My dogs barking to get attention,I go into the kitchen and he jumps on to his hind legs.I then ask him what he wants and he will move his head towards the door if he wants to go out,Towards the Kitchen counter if he wants food and just nuzzles at my crotch if he wants to be petted.

One of my cats pees in the sink if she can't be bothered to go outside. If she can't get to the sink, she'll pee next to the toilet... well, at least she tries.

I had a cat and a rabbit at the same time once. The cat didn't really seem to care about it. But my cat was super old then too. The rabbit would usually run up and sniff his butt when he was eating. That kinda freaked the cat out.

I've got 2 cats. I like cats WAY more than dogs, heres my reasoning on it.

Dogs (most of them...not all of them) are loud ass holes. People get them not realizing that you have to train them, and they just dont disiplin them. So the dog ends up being a compleat ass hole.
I like cats because of the fact that, they don't really need me. Its not as much work to take care of a cat. So you don't have to give it attention 24/7 like alot of dogs.
It really just depends on the person, because I know tons of people would rather have a dog for those same reasons.
And of course there are just some breeds of dogs that I could never ever like. I'm a dog racist. :hmph:

I think cats are way more expressive than dogs anyway......

(are we starting up a cat/dog war????........I don't want no war :( )

I would like to post pics of my cats... but there are nine of them :/ And I don't have pictures of all of them to scan anyway. Pretty soon I want to get a rat or a ferret. They say ferret's are more intelligent then cats

p.s. that Shimi's such a cutie! (cuty? cutey?) yay for cute cats!

My weiner dog uses his nose to open doors

My ferret is cool... he's smart, but he just uses his intelligence to get into things. :p

Plus, the cats smack him in the face whenever they get a chance. Kinda funny!

My dogs trained, hardly ever barks unless someones sneaking around outside the house... she understands english too, which most cats don't.

You tell a cat to sit and what does it do? it looks at you like you're an idiot and wanders off. Wheres the fun in that?

Besides, cats hate me. Dogs love me. So I love dogs.

Dogs > Cats. They're just smarter and higher up the food chain.

my 12 year old dog recently learned to open doors...and they say u can never teach old dogs to sit? :D

Yeah.....there's no way in hell you could get a cat to "sit" or "stay". But you can defenitly get them to come when you call their name. Like when I let Shimi out and I want her back in I just say "Hey Shimi, come here!". And she comes runnin.

Our cats don't know tricks, because we never bothered to teach them. I heard somewhere that you can teach any animal tricks, as long as you know how. Get a clicker, and make it click whenever your cat is eating. Not the whole time, just right when it's chewing and swallowing. Get it to associate eating with that clicking noise. It'll work best if you give them something really delicious. Then, you try and teach them a trick. You say sit, and they don't, don't do anything. Then a few minutes later, say sit again. Keep trying until they do. Finally when they do, reward them with the clicking noise (maybe even a treat). Just do this like 10 times, every time they sit when told to sit, clicking noise and treat. Should work.

Anyway, our cats don't know any tricks, as I was saying, but they're very obedient. If they smell food on the counter, and jump on there, all we do is say "Get off." No yelling, nothing. Then they get off. We call their name, they come. When it's time for dinner, we yell "Food!" in a high pitched noise, and they know it's dinner time.

Y'know... I reckon that proves cats are intelligent and able to understand english...

Never seen a cat chase after a stupid stick, that's for sure...
