The combines are aliens?!

Why is everybody saying the combines are aliens they seem human with a futuristic armor to me... with human weapons human blood... human "get on with it or i'll don't warn a 2nd time!" i mean, in the 1st hl there were the aliens and the military this is just advanced military with alien reaserches! no? :bounce:

Banrey was part of civil protection, who are normal humans.

You never fight an acutal combine in the whole game, infact theres non on earth. Only combine technology is on earth and it has been used to augment humans.

The combien are aliens, but there are non in the game, except the one breen si talking to

Are you sure about that? I was under the impression that the really weak, skinny grey things you see in the citidel were combine with no suits on.

Like he said, combine technology not combine, they are they transhumans Breen was tallking about probably.
I think the army here on earth is simply called the Overwatch.

The strategy guide kind of makes the Combine clearer, but it doesn't really give you a straight answer.

The way I understand it is that:

- The frail, FUBARed humans you see in the Citadel are those humans who instead of being rescued by Barney in the beginning, took the train to Nova Prospekt and were experimented on by Combine scientists. Once done with experimentation, the Combine sent the now named "Stalkers" to the Citadel to perform menial tasks

- The Combine soldiers you fight throughout the game are in fact humans, according to the guide

- The slug-like creature seen briefly is a Combine Advisor, which is what you see Breen talking to then, and earlier when you fail to warp through to Vance's lab at Kleiner's and somehow end up in Breen's office in the Citadel for a few seconds. They are said to have telekenisis as well.


In the guide, they also talk about the other various Combine enemies you see moving about in the Citadel, but never encounter in battle. This, at least to me, sets up some of HL3's story. I think you will be encountering Combine forces again, as there were two or three enemies you only saw, but never fought.

i thought "combine soldiers" were the "transhumans" (as breen refers to them). Combine means a combination of human and alien. Thats the impression i got from the game and the little booklet that comes with gold edition. I think the feeble things int he citadel are humans.

I thought that anything except for Breen on the alien side was a 'transhuman', and the CP are human bodies with an alien head grafted on them. The combine larva-people cant breathe earth air, so they need the gasmask.

The pink naked slaves are humans with the frontal lobes removed, and they do manual labor in the citadel.

On Highway17, if u look behind the gass tank, theres also a matress and dead citizen there, u see a poster , its a ape --> human --> A combine Mask.

I Think they are just evolved humans, not aliens as such.

Why brainwashed ? They could just be evolved humans that beleive in a different cause.

And for all we know those slave things in citadel are Resistance fighters or citizens that have been captured and forced to be slaves.

We just dnt know....Bring on HL3 is what i say
