Ok this is some bull crap !!! I'm trying to cure myself because i hate being a vampire. I did the quest to find all 5 empty Grand soul gems and i go to the lady to give me the cure , and she asks me if i found all the soul gems and i do have them and its not letting me give them to her. I keep talking to her and she keeps telling me that i have not found them yet keep trying or somthing like that. I check my inventory and all 5 are there. Whats wrong? Its making me crazy when i go out and i start to burn up and then i have to run into my house and sleep till night . Feeding is also a pain somtimes.

When you get the dialogue to talk to her, is there a scrollbar on the left? If there is you need to scroll down and select a different dialogue option. I ask because I had a similar experience and was at my wits end, when my friend looked over and said "uh....scroll down."

If you think thats bad, wait until she asks you to get 'ingredients'.

I got so fed up that I went in the editor, and changed the settings so that it isn't her house (I have access 24 hours to her house) and can be fast revelled from.

If you want something bad, you do it.

Are you sure they are empty?
Well 4 of them are empty but 1 of them has somthing in it. When i go to empty it into a enchanted weapon it dissapears from my inventory ??? is that right or is there a different way of emptying it. I really need this its driving me crazy. She better not ask me to do anything else , if she does i'll just kill her.;(

I'm doing that same quest. I have four empty ones and I need to find one more. I heard that you need to have a couple of nightshade plants and some bloodgrass too after you get the soul gems.

Finding 5 empty grand soul gems isn't that hard. Go to every city and check the mage guilds, each guild should have atleast 1 empty grand soul gem for sell. After that you need like 6 cloves of garlic, 5 nightshades, and 3 bloodgrass.

Ok cool!! I have found the soul gems and now i have to find the ingredients:
I have so far 4 nightshade, 3 Garlic cloves and alot of blood grass , But my only concern is i cant get into the locked door to stab that one vampire dude with the dagger she gave me for his blood. The door is locked with very hard lock pick it sucks cause i only have 1 lock pick.

You have to use the dagger she gave you to stab an argonian, which is those lizard looking npcs. Just go to the arena, outside should be one brawling with a chick. Take a quick swing and pay the fine.

As for the vampire and your lock issue, you can always go find the skeleton key or join a guild that sells lockpicks.

I don't know if I want to be a vampire anymore.. What should I do? :(

Talk to the count in Skingrad, ask him about a cure and you get a quest.

I know that. I want input. Good to be vampire or not?

Good for the stat boosts, but annoying since you have to keep feeding all the time which makes doing quests annoying.

I just got done getting rid of my vampirism. That was quite an adventure. My guy was getting all wrinkled and white and his cheek-bones were really pronounced. Now he's back to normal. Whew.

Being a vampire gives a lot of bonuses, the only disadvantage is that your face looks like its been hit with a bag of powder, sun light hurts you, and certain people are afraid of you. The upside is that you gain new abilities and quite a huge boost in certain skills. The sun light thing can be countered by drinking blood every 24 hours and you can also use charm spells to make people like you.

So if you want to be super powerful early on, go ahead and be a vampire. I didn't want to be a vampire because it made my character's face look even uglier. Your choice, I honestly don't care about being a vampire since I'm a powerful mage already.

I haven't tried being a vampire yet, I am unsure if I want to carry the toll that it brings. (Kind of annoying to feed all the time, especially if am on an extended journey)

I believe there is a mod out that has portable blood so you don't need a person to feed on.

Vampire sight about halves the difficulty of dungeons for my sneak/thief wimpy argonian. I can see enemies through half a dozen walls and never have to worry about fiddling with my torch, although the washed out blue colour does get kind of boring. The sunlight thing was terrible at first until I realised drinking blood stops it. There are enough sleeping beggars, bandits, and citizens around to make blood drinking eeeasy and it seems to have no adverse affect, although there is a tiny chance of them waking up and going crazy at you (only happened when I did it in a guard barracks)

The only real drawback is my skin looks crap and my eyes have turned from cool, shiny reptile Argonian eyes... into human eyes with pink pupils :/
Seeking: a mod to give proper eyes to argonian vampires.

Also, from a roleplaying perspective I just don't want to be a vampire, so I'm currently searching for the cure.

Actually portable blood is in the game. They are vials of human blood and you can find them in the chest of that vampire guy in the DB.

I don't see the big deal. I've yet to become a vampire, but when it does happen (if it does), i'll create a seperate save so I can cure it on one, and have a little fun on the other.

The point is that most people miss the disease message mid-battle, so they don't know they're a vampire until too late. By then, you've already completed about 3+ quests and don't feel like going all the way back.

Always have to be careful with those pesky vampires. I always go pray at some altar after facing them off.

Yeah, it helps to check your fatigue meter (-4 fatigue for porphyric haemophilia) or the active effects tab every so often, and always carry around some cure disease potions.

I thought being a vampire was pretty cool at the start, but it wears thin very quickly. The main point of annoyance is that if you feed right at the end of, say, stage 2 vampirism, it should theoretically reset the clock to 24 hours until evolving to stage 2 again. It doesn't, and within a few more hours you're back to stage 2 again. This means you're perpetually in stage 2+ and its sunlight burnfest. Also, fast travelling becomes dangerous if you judge things wrong. Bleh.

Why can't getting cured from vampirism be like getting cured from blight in Morrowind, you are immune from future attacks, but keep some of the more positive of abilities

i've cured myself from vampirism awhile ago, yes that big ass ingredient hunt ugh so many days finding that shit...

antway im in the DB atm and Vincent(is it?) the vamp offered me the chance of becoming one again? i said no but the offer is still there, if i say yes will i get a new quest arch? or will i just become a vamp again, no extra quests? he told me i can go to the mages guild to find a cure so maybe i wont haveto do that big ass quest again. i wouldnt mind becoming a vampire again, the extra abilities and strength i wouldnt mind having, hunters sight pwns! i dont really mind about my character looking like shit tbh...:/

If you're a mage, becoming a vampire seems a bit pointless once you get better spells later in the game. Unless you want the boost in skills or want to RP, I really don't see any point to it.

While the abilities are nice, you can enchant your armor to do the same and have it constantly on.

I'm getting sick of this vampire crap!!! I NEED TO FIND THAT KEY! i found 5 lock picks so wish me luck on opening that very hard lock .
And for those thinking about being a vamp DONT!!! the upgrades are nice but they come with alot of work .

Oh man, picking locks is soooo easy... just keep pushing a tumbler up until it goes up very slowly, then click. Rinse and repeat.

That is when you cheat the system. Quicksave with all the picks then quickload if you didn't open it on all 5 attempts. Thats what I do when I get short on picks.

No, just watch that video (there's a thread about it somewhere) that shows how to pick locks. Makes life infinitely easier for thieves.

Lockpicking in oblivion is a lot like sex. First you have no clue what to push and where to press. Once you figure out how to do it, you are utterly horrible at it. But then start to get good at it (using either good rythm, sound, or the skeleton key). And finally no keyhole is safe from your swift and deadly lockpicks. Of course you get bored with lockpicking and realize that using magic is quicker, faster, and cooler.

Heh, in contrast to most of the people in this thread I find being a vampire is really easy and massively useful - I just hate the way my character's face looks. If you're a thief you should really consider it.

I recently got bitten overnight, i've approached the Count of Skingrad and there is no chat dialogues about any cure; just "Skingrad" and "Rumours" :\

Yeah, whoever said that got it wrong. The way I had to go was LONG. I asked in the church, and they said to ask in the mages guild in the Imperial City, where you finally learn that

*spoiler*

Count Skingrad is a vampire. The really annoying thing was I had already broken in to see him and sussed he was a vampire from his pink eyes, and the fact that Skingrad is where I got bitten... But he didn't say anything about vampirism until I asked in the IC. IIRC they wont even officially let you in to see the count unless you know he's a vampire and mention it.

To get the cure quest you can also talk to Vincente (Dark Brotherhood) and he will give you the quest. Or go to the Mage's University in the IC and talk to Ramus Something. He will tell you what to do.

Did anyone else steal his dead wife's clothes? ... just me... mmk.
