The Day After Tomorrow...well...the day after tomorrow

Heh, I know an extra from that movie...

I might go see it, im sure it will be a cool movie, but Im not always into the end of the world kind of movies, so many have sucked in the past that i am cautious now. If my friends tell me its good i will porbably go see it.

I'm gonna go see it this weekend or something, the trailer really blew me away! But I've heard the ending sucks alot.

Was watching something on the effects and was genuinely impressed with many of the things they did. They used CG for some stuff you wouldn't necessarily think they would.

effects will probably be impressive, but that's it. looks like your average cash cow. lowest common denominator. hollywood sucktacular. all polish and no substance. nice effects, shame about the film .... running out of clichés here..

It was even done by a director who did a movie just like it a few years ago.

Well it's directed by... that guy who directed ID4 (Independence Day), which was really, really cool. So I'm hopeful for this movie. I love the scene where the news reporter gets torn away by the huge section of corrugated metal roofing

i'm gonna go see if this friday i love movies where innocent people die by the hordes in your face surround sound!

independance day sucked the crusted cheese of a dead donkeys knob...

Nah it was everything i look for in a movie.....

shit blowing up..... aliens..... hot chicks(little sparse there) more shit blowing up....

A really mother****ingly huge ass explosion.......

....my expectations from movies are pretty low these days.....

Van Helsing was corny fun
Hell Boy comes out August in Australia and it looks really cool
Kill Bill 2 was one of the best movies i've ever seen
Mean Girls - I'll pass
Shrek 2 - Looks hilarious
Passion of the Christ was powerful but not something i'd see again.
The Day After Tomorrow - I love seeing big disaster movies, like ID4 and Deep Impact (Not Armageddon that sucked)

lawl I gotta see the passion. Is it going to come out on video? I have heard so much about it like "It makes everyone cry" even though I doubt it'll make me even feel sorry at all. It's a BS story anyway.

The guy who directed this movie also directed Independance Day, Godzilla, and Stargate. So I wouldn't expect anything more than a big mindless special effects explosion.

A big mindless special effects explosion? Why do I get the feeling you talk about that as if it's a bad thing?

Hey, there's nothing wrong with huge special effects. It's just that it's so over-hyped that you have to ground yourself and see what it really is. All this political talk about the themes of the movie are making it seem more than it is -- a mindless special effects explosion. The themes are simply there to give the crew an excuse to drown New York, not vice versa..

Americans love films with big explosions etc... remember xXx? That made me laugh so much  - it had no story, a pitiful dialogue and lots of explosions, and I think the only people that liked it were Americans.

Saying that though, some of the best films evar were made in America. I just hope 'The Day After Tomorrow' was made for a target audience with an IQ over 100.

I saw the day after tomorrow yesterday at a pre-showing here in Finland. And that movie gobsmacked me!

It's totally amazin! all the effects! and it's actually somewhat belivable! 4.6 outta 5.

Looks very kewl, ive been waiting to see this scince i saw the trailer at the cinema 1-2 months ago. Im gonna see it right after i see troy ;)

yay its out tommorow in the UK :D

well... it get a 3/5. If you've seen Inde day (from the same dude) you've seen this... just replace the wall of fire from inde day with water.

Lame story, only special effects.

Not exactly the case here, I don't know if you noticed but the director is a german american left wing hippie, this movie is supposed to promote global warming awareness and send a message to America and the world about the importance of the Kyoto treaty which Bush didn't sign.

Read my second post in this topic. :)

First and foremost, this guy is trying to make a film with huge special effects that entertains. The themes are merely secondary to this. He's said this himself. :) Besides, judging upon his previous films, I have a feeling he might over-dramatise these themes. Kinda like that speech by the president in ID4. You know, the one that made you want to cringe in disgust. :) But who knows, maybe I'm wrong, and he's actually made a film with more than a special effects budget.

Oh oh, i forgot to tell you what i thought was the coolest in the movie... that i could understand what they said in in japanese :)

Otherwise, meh.
