its a german director btw (if u havent already said that) :) his name is roland emmerich or so. he also directed independence day, the patriot aaand godzilla. quite neat movies imo. :D

Well you guys sure aspire my opinon and I am going to go watch it next week. :monkee:

The Day After Tomorrow opening weekend box-office gross: $69,750,000
:bounce: YAY! :bounce:

Is that a lot?

That's quite a bit, I know, but....how much is that compared to other movies?

It's not JUST a natural disaster movie. I liked it, but it should have been a bit longer and with more story.

There was a story? Oops, didn't notice that. :P

In my honest opinion, yes, that is a lot since it was on a $125 million budget. It's more than half-way there, and that was only it's opening week-end gross.

Well, I just got back from this puppy. Thought it was okay. I really liked the part with all the Americans crossing the Rio Grande into Mexico, I thought that was funny.

Hmm.. lots of money *drool*

Sometimes the size of the movie budgets and other budgets make me think, where the hell does all that money go anyway?

Well it sure ain't charity

There were SO many similarities between it and independance day. Alot of plot elements were the same, as well as the following.

I was supposed to go and see this tonight, but with the sheer amount of bad reviews, and with the track record of the director I think I'll give it a miss... forever.

You're making a big mistake. You'll regret it later. Don't listen to the reviews, go see it and judge it for yourself.

I liked it, but I had probably expected it to more violent and a bit more ID4-like - in a good way! I wanted more and more and more! I just wanted to see LA getting ****ed up by twisters, and watching people getting thrown around... instead it just turned into a movie where they're just about to show something horrible (a guy getting crushed or whatever) and then they cut it, so we're left with an idea of what's going to happen! I HATE THAT! If a movie is trying to show/tell us something then for crying out loud SHOW US instead of just cutting and then lean back and say: "Well kids...now it's up to you, to figure out what happened to the poor man". **** THAT! I wanna see blood and gore!!

It wasn't meant to be a horror/bloody/gory movie.
If you want to see blood and gore, go see Dawn of the Dead (1978)...a classic.

Well, I went to see The Day After Tomorrow two days ago. Anyway, there were some bad storms here in Louisville,KY, and in the middle of the scene with all the tornadoes, the movie was stopped because there was a real tornado warning. We were all moved to the center of the building until the warning had passed. Anyhow, it was a good effect-having a real tornado warning and evacuation in the middle of a movie about cataclysmic weather changes. :)

I know that, but what I meant was, I wanted the movie to be a bit more violent, instead of those God damn Disney-situations...

Well i just went to see the film...It was so great. I can't believe people would say its bad, i mean they

kill the president, who was the nice guy...although not in it much

How many films can say that? I really liked everything about it.

I am dissapointed by this film. There too many little "problems" that happen just to make it longer, like the wolves. They could have been totally removed and it would have made a much better movie. I like american movies, but in this one has an attitude of "Americans are the best in the world because there is no other one in the world" that bothers me. Do we really need to see an american flag every minute? one every 5 min would be more than enough.

I remember very few American flags in the movie.. other than that, if you were referring to the statue of liberty.. uhm, it *WAS* New York afterall...

Yeah there werent many flags...one of the most prominent ones shattered. Also, the President and most of the country that could took refuge in Mexico. There was a lot of scenes in England...They refered to europe quite a lot and several other parts of the world. Anyway, even if it is for Americans, i still enjoy seeing patriotism in films....gets the juices flowing :)

You're just annoyed that Canada got frozen :P

Didn't like it that much. Too much randomness.
Like when that ship appears out of NOWHERE.

As far as I'm concerned the only good parts of the film were included in the trailer for it. Sure it's only a couple mintues long, but I found it much more enjoyable than the film itself.

what?

is this supposed to be a new topic?

i think you need to post a new topic, insted of hijacking an existing one
