Thats my machine but mines got a 9800np!! you've just copied me :)

It'll get you about 5500 in 3d mark 2003 and about 36500 in the new Aquamark

You realise the FSB on your mobo is supposed to run at 333/400 mhz

pc2100 runs at 266mhz........therefore it will slow down your system significantly and possibly make it unstable/unusable.

you might want to call them and change your order

edit: you need pc3200 btw.

running pc2100 won't make his system unstable, it would just run better with pc2700/pc3200

Well id hate to say it, but you should have taken our advice. KT400= Terrible, why would you not get an Nforce 2? ESPECIALLY with a 2500+. The 2100 RAM is a joke too man...

An A7NX8 is an Nforce2 board. I'm typing on it now. Unless they've completely changed the specs.

EDIT:
just checked, your right!!! why aren't you getting a Nforce2 board. Goodbye bandwidth and performnace.

just admit it, you all hate it :(

I dont hate it... It could have been so much better. I know you will be pissed when your having stability probs, not getting the performance you thought, etc. Do some research before buying next time.

:( ur all mean...... :( i don't care what u think.... i have a great computer now....
is it really just the mobo and RAM u guys don't like?

i dont think anyone has a personal grudge with those components ;)

The thing is that it looks like you just randomly selected several things, maybe cause of prices, and it turns out that they dont go well together.

i did research, my dad's IT guy from work reffered me to the mobo and PC2100.... so i listened... even if they don't like each other, as long as it runs stable.... it'll be a hell of alot better than my current rig

As soon as you get it, see if you can RMA the RAM and mobo. Go for a standard NF7 or standard A7N8X. Also spend a bit more and get PC2700 at least. Were only trying to help.

ok........... i'll try.... is the crucial still good, or should i try to get a different bran of RAM?

Ohhhh time to tell you all my specs of my dream machine, im an mATX guy so i went with a Shuttle MN13, 1 gig Corsair XMS pc2700, Vantec Aeroflow, 1700+, a 400W psu, and a black inwin matx case that supportsd full atx psus. Comes out to 495 shipped, ive got spare parts to make it a complete system sitting in my closet. It has onboard video which is enough for me until christmas. I plan on oc'ing the proc to 166fsb bringing it up to 1.8ghz.

thank you, see this is the kinds of replies I expected, not "ur Comp SUUUUUUUUUUx11!! if u goten beeetr parts, it'd beeee bettttr"
well, duh! if i had gotten an intel w/ 3.06 GHz, it would have been better, if i had gotten a 9800 pro it'd been better, but i didn't
BTW, i know you are all trying to help and i thank you, but i really didn't need schooling from you guys.... i thought that motherboard was better than the nForce 2 mobo in the same price range. i'm sorry, had to let out some steam (like VALVe did when they released steam)... NOW DIE!!!!! :sniper:
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
j/k, and thanks again....
now, considering the price and parts and such (GO ASUS!), do you think it's a good computer?

yup, bump the ram up to 2700 or 3200 and your system will be a lot faster.

Seriously... you should start working on your dreams... they're already obsolete.

My dream PC isn't anywhere close to being feasible yet...

Well you can have good system with Via chipsets. I think they have done well for the people that I made less expensive computers for. Also I don't dislike your computer, but you might have a flaw in your purchasing. Other people probably noticed it but your cpu is designed to run at a 333 fsb. But the ram you bought is only rated for 2100 or 266 fsb. Now you might be able manually raise the fsb to get the full speed of your cpu, I am not sure your the type to try that. Otherwise you would need 2700(333) rated ram to get the full non overclocked potential of your cpu

Lastly are you planing on using more then the hard drive and another cd rom ect?

no, just salvaging my 60gig western digital from my old setup, everything else is brand new
