The dreaded Directx9 internal driver error.

I've tried everything. New drivers, omega drivers...everything I can think of and it still crashes. When I tried to change the target in the properties I messed up and now can't change it at all, so now I've got to start the game via steam and not the desktop icon...

I'm really disappointed with Valve for this. Do they have any kind of patch that fixes this??

My graphics card is GeForce 8500 GT.

Which game are you trying to play?

The desktop icon is purely a shortcut to launch the game via Steam anyway...just like clicking the game in your 'my games' list. You are supposed to put the launch parameters in via right clicking the game in your 'my games' list, going to properties and selecting 'launch options'. Here you can customise the launch.

Also, while you are here, go to the files tab and validate the integrity of your game cache for whatever game it is, and this will restore the game files (sync'ing them with Steam) to fix any issues.

Half Life 2 and the Episodes.

I've got the icon to work again, but I'm not sure how to sync it to Steam. Do you mean the file tab within Steam? Because the only thing I see resembling what you're talking about is the Check for Steam Client Updates, and that says I am up to date.

Here's the exact error.
