Can't say i agree with SMG as GOTY but that's just me :|

Pretty good list, probably best one so far. Just riddle me this: what do Halo 3 and Crysis have that make them more innovative than SMG/Bioshock/pants/the fucking wheel?

Well crysis has great graphics. Halo 3 ummm..........

How the BLOODY F UCK is Halo 3 innovative? HOW IDIOTIC DO YOU HAVE TO BE TO DETERMINE THAT!?

that is really messed up. Halo has never been innovative, apart from maybe the first one which was only innovative because it was the first good FPS on a console

Goldeneye? Perfect Dark? Timesplitters? All of which had a far better and more innovative single player than Halo and it's Doom 2.0 run and gun.

ok i was wrong, i just tried to look intelligent

Halo was innovative guys - think about it, Bungie managed to take a mediocre game and get everyone to love it for no justifiable reason. If that isn't the pinnacle of innovation I don't know what is.

That would make Bungie innovative, not Halo itself. :p

Kids on Xbox live are best online experience? And no TF2 on Steam?

Yes, welcome to the decline of the gaming community. Immaturity is rampant now that the general populous has easy access to our once proud hobby.

Halo 3 has Forge, which is pretty cool...but really its basically Garry's mod for Halo. Theater mode is pretty cool but i personally don't think its all that innovative. Impressive, sure. Innovative? i dont know.

Also, i was totally surprised that TF2 didn't even make the list of runners up for Best Online Experience.

With the Wii channels under "best online experience" I'd like to know the definition of "online experience" from this perspective.

Gaming? Shopping? Pornography should win this category, surely.

Anyway, this is probably a better list than many, but there's never going to be a definitive list - EVER. Also, where's the award for bestvideogamefuelledbysomeshittyamericansoda? That was an awesome-o award.

It's an okay list, but man. What the **** was being thought when some of these games won in their categories.

I think I'm just done reading these things. For every game that deserves an obvious mentioning there's one other that begs the question "WTF?". They always annoy the shit out of me to some extent or another, so why bother.

I would have had TF2 as best online experience, closely followed by Halo 3. I'm not sure why Halo 3 got most innovative, either. The Forge, Theatre mode and meta game are all superb additions, but nothing really jumps out as new (well, perhaps the meta game, at a stretch). Still, it's certainly the best co-op fps around and i'm still waiting for a single player fps to come close to matching its combat ;P

//edit - my copy just fell through the post:

'...instead of a vanilla screenshot mode, it had a full theatre mode. Level editing is live and collaborative, and even part of the multiplayer itself. Co-op includes a deep scoring system that provides welcome competition while battling together. It allows players to share their films, screenshots, maps and gametypes with each other. While none of these features is truly new to video games, they have never been so thoroughly and accessibly incorporated into such a supremely coherent whole. Halo 3 is the result of a company considering its games' players like no other.'

It's nice to see Valve get credit for the Orange Box and the goty - like there was ever any doubt :)

Super Mario Galaxy ftfw.

I'm amazed TF2 lost to Bioshock in terms of appearance...

Ouch. I loved Resi 4 on the Wii, but a contender for GotY 2007? A bit of a slap in the face to many games that could have populated the top ten.

I wouldn't have had it so high up, but i'm having trouble thinking of something to replace it. All the top games this year seem to be covered.
