The Elegant Universe

I followed the 10 dimensions flash more-or-less, but I didn't really understand the concept of folding dimensions and how the 2-dimensional being could pop from one point to another.

Eh? lol no. How would you explain them intersecting? If they bend them closely together, everything would follow that fold, so we wouldn't notice.

Well if you imagine us as the flatlanders which is essentially the same idea in the 3 dimensional universe. So then if the upper dimension fluctuates and intersects at a point, for arguements sake from whatever influences we can't comprehend.

Then in our world you would see the 3D counterpart of the 4th dimensional entity at whatever point along the time line it intersects with the present.

If you refer to the 3D balloon going through the the flatlanders world it does theoretically make sense.

Because mass (dark matter) can't accelerate the expansion of the universe. So they probably calculated the mass of the universe needed to consist of 75% dark energy (energy is directly linked to mass) to make the acceleration of the expansion that we see possible.

But they do the calculate before the observation of the acceleration of the expansion.

This actually is a repost from march 2004, but this is still very interesting.

The Elegant Universe is a documentary on string theory by Brian Greene. String theory is the first theory that can explain all of nature, while fitting the current state of science. It is a interesting 3 hour watch on the NOVA website.

Here it is in lowres.

This one is the highres.

The animation explaining up to the tenth dimension reminded me of this (I've seen it years ago) and that animation might help visualizing the things that are discussed. I recommend wathing it first.

That flash is bull.

Haha, just noticed even clarky thought it was real :D

Science award goes to... ME

10 SPACIAL DIMENSIONS, and then TIME = 11.

That flash is bollocks, anyone with any understanding of string theory, or even older theorys understands thats not what the other 8 dimensions are.

I hate everything about the string theory.

Not that it's a bad theory, I've just watched that Ryan Greene Video 5 times in two different class rooms(two teachers showed it and three subs needed a video to keep us occupied), and it's soo annoying now :frown:
