I beat the game this morning and it took me 9 hours from start to finish. Note that I was playing on the default difficulty level which is easy. I didn't realize this until part way through when I was browsing the options.

The ending (no spoilers) was alot of fun. Having you experience it all from first person is really really cool. It's amazing what they can do with animation now. Even though I felt like no questions were answered I was more then statisfied with the information given to me. It always kept me on the edge of my seat.

If anyone is expecting a review because this is a thread about beating the game I give it a 5 out of 5 because it's such a unique experience.

Ok, I'm going to go play through it again now. Later.

6 years to make a game...
1 year delay
$40 million dollars spent in developement
1,285 hours spent on Half Life 2 message boards

beat the game in 9 hours.

LAME!

haha just kidding

Why would anyone want to 'beat the game' in such a quick time? What an utter, utter waste.

A waste? You don't even know what kind of play experience I had. I spent time tinkering with everything and talking with everyone I could. I'll be playing it again in case I missed anything but if anything it was the game that pushed me to the end. I wanted to see what would happen next and it was that drive that made the experience enriching.

What a waste, I pitty you, I'll take my time, no point rushing to post "I fisnih HL2" I'll take my sweet time with this.

God stop being so rough - the guys not saying the game sucked or anything - jesus christ!
anyways - congrats on completing the game and finding out nothing lolol

i finished it in 12 hours. I couldn't stop playing. I'm going to go through again on medium. I also did not check the settings. I wasn't satisfied with the ending. It felt too... sequel-ish? Well, we already knew that, but there was no real resolution I felt. I think it was gamespot who said it felt more like the middle of a story. I hope so, because, like LOTR, the 3rd one will kick so much ass.

Yea it did feel like the middle but it was still great. If anything the worst part was the part just before the end because you see so much but there is never an explanation for them. Maybe I did miss something. But I think those questions are just there to setup for the next game.

I'm still trying to come up with a complaint to make a good arguement for this game that doesn't sound bias. But it's just so good.

For goodness sake, you're bashing him because he played it "too quick?" Some people are just faster than others. Like reading a book.... He owns the game and he'll play it again. Why does it matter if he beat the game quickly the first time? To each their own.

i did it in 13ish hours yesterday on hard, i didnt have 'less' of an experience for doing so.

omg dumb kid

yeah really, its no skin off my nose, if he plays the way he wants to.

Man it feels like this game is taking a long time for me. On the buggy levels I stopped at every single location and cleared out everysingle house. My intent it is to kill every single Combine I can find.

and how long did it take u to complete the game?
im curious because i am still near the beginning (i like taking my time :p ) and with some pple posting 9-12 hour complete times....i am getting the feeling the game isn't long enough.. :(

well i'm about 8 hours in and just got to the first buggy level with the crane, which is level 7 i think. so i'm halfway through in 8 hours, i'm expecting between 15-20 hours to beat it.

geez...I've been playing for about 3 hours, and I'm still running around in that Route Canal level. I don't even know what level number that is.

Difficulty is on HIGH and I'm trying everything. I'll kill some dudes, and then realize I could have blown them up by destroying a bridge (or something like that), so I end up doing part of the scene over again. That's probably what's taking me so long.

Some of you are really blasting through this game. I've played for close to 8 hours, and I'm still in Ravenholm!

Last night (sometime between 7:30pm and 8pm) after 15+ hours of play I beat it on med difficulty. Just like a good book I had trouble putting the game down, and as earlier posted, the game pushes you to see what happens next.

My score would be a 10 of 10, the game simple rocked, love every minute of it, The only thing that got old was driving the Airboat and Buggy as it felt alittle long.

I liked the lack of answers, its saying that Freemen can't know the answers so we can't ether.

Now I'm playing on hard and cheated to get the gravity gun at the start of the game, I would rather of had the imporved gravity gun, but meh.

I'm at 12 hours play time, and still in Nova Prospekt.

I'm not really taking my time, just playing it. On replay I'll probably take my sweet time and explore EVERYTHING. :D
