i took this post down because i don't want to argue to everyone who disagrees with me and i'm going to write a longer and more correct article

the bottom line of the post was....

sacrificing gameplay for the sake of a teen rating + the ESRB + everyone who doesent like violence hurts the game

it hasnt been offically stamped with a TEEN rating.... maybe the ESRB hasnt seen the swinging torso, or the screaming zombies....


and battlefield 1942 is fun, its not a vehicle camping fest like non-bf42 players make it out to be.... wanna camp for that tank? well any engeneer can lay 1 or 2 expacks on you (depending on the vehicle) and end your game in one big boom...

and game rating are there for a reason... children SHOULDNT be seeing bloody hanging torso zombie blood and shit...

most gamers are over 18... so a M doesnt have much of an effect...

or maybe it has selectable violence levels (like, you can turn of blood and swearing), and that might knock it down to a T.... dont get so ready to spaz over a vauge quote...

I think I read that Gabe said he was hoping / shooting / looking for a Teen rating. Doesn't mean thats what it will get.

Of course gabe wants a teen rating, that way all the kiddies with overprotective mothers will be able to buy HL2 when they wouldn't be able to. But if HL2 doesn't get a T rating, I doubt Valve will cut out the gore in able to get it

hmmm lets see, if it does get a Teen rating then lets see what some of the potential consequences may be:

Increased sales due to more parents allowing their kids to buy the game.

A few people whine and complain that they can't see all the blood and flying limbs that they want to but still buy the game anyway.

Someone creates a mod within the first 2 months that allows for all the blood splattering and flying limbs that people could want.

Hmmm... Truthfully I don't see all that much that is bad. And keep in mind that all of this is really just speculation, HL2 is not guaranteed to get a Teen rating.

ehh ok relax. Those rating don’t mean anything. In Denmark (where I live ) the rating is 16+ for ex. FarCry and I bet that all kids from 12 to 16 have played it. I have never seen a boy going around the streets and killings monkeys because someone want to make them into monsters in the future

Dismemberment automaticlly gets a M rating, no matter what. Slicing a zombie in half with a giant blade counts.
