The Forbidden Kingdom

Plot's going to be annoying as hell, but I'm a sucker for this sort of shit so I'll definitely end up seeing it. Also, whoever the japanese girl in their group is - holy shit.

Edit - Another trailer here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BVo23wypgQ

Yep, I can see myself hating that guy by the end of the movie... scratch that, give it five minutes.

By the way, wasn't Fearless meant to be Jet Li's final martial arts "epic"? I'd say this looks pretty epic, humour or not. Not that I'm complaining...

I think Fearless was supposed to be his last epic movie, but maybe he meant in a serious fashion. This one is going to be a bit humorous so I'm not sure if it counts as an epic movie... but then again... jackie chan + jet li = epic

Take what could have been a decent epic foreign film with two large martial arts icons and totally ruin it by westernizing it by throwing in the skeptical and clumsy white kid who somehow becomes a martial arts master and saves the day, gets the girl, blah blah. I mean Americans can't stand it when someone who isn't white saves the day or if they all speaky chingy chow and are forced to read subtitles.

Exactly.

I am definitely interested in this one. The comedy of Chan with the awesomeness of Li should make this the aforementioned epic win.

Bitch bitch bitch. Movie was too awesome. Get out of here.

Oddly enough the best counter example of the "Americans only like it when white people win" being wrong is probably most of Chan's other body of work, including the Rush Hour series. (Whether you like 'em or not they're popular).

I just love how ignorant some people are when they generalize "Americans" as all being the same. I guess they must think in order for them to be cool, they must jump on the ol' "Lets bash Americans" bandwagon. Very pathetic, but whatever makes you feel special. It's like me saying all the French are cowards or every other country other than the US, are selfish losers because they don't send out as much humanitarian aid as the US does.

As for the movie, I can't wait to see it & I could care less if some white, black, asian or pacific islander kid came in & saved the day. Hell, in my humble opinion, some of the best martial arts movies I have ever seen have had ZERO "westernized" actors in them with only poorly translated subtitles at the bottom of the screen to try to follow the plot as the movie progressed.

Shut up

By the way I just saw a commercial on AMC for the ENGLISH DUBBED version of Letters From Iwo Jima. "Ah no der be wurds on ma teevee, wuh i do?" God forbid anyone would have to read and watch the movie at the same time...braen hert.

Oh for the love of...

As for Kingdom, it looks like very adequate entertainment. Good popcorn flick.
