The G-man connection

Something that has been bugging me recently about the knowledge gained from the HL2 vids. It has been confirmed that the HL2 story picks up with Gordon working for the G-man, but where do Alyx, Eli and Kliener come in? The vids have shown Gordon working with them. The only explanations I can think of:

1. Gordon isn't the only one the G-man picked. He chose the best from Black Mesa and that's how all the characters ended up in city 17 all under the G-mans control.

2. Godon started out working for the G-man but quickly found he couldn't take it. He scarpered, found his old buddies from BMRF and joined them.

3. (unlikely) Gordon has been ordered to work with his old friends by the G-man in some strange sabotage attempt or something. Kind of an undercover agent.

4. The G-man and the others from BMRF are working toward the same goal. Gordon was told to work with them by the G-man to help them out.

This is all purely speculative, but it's just something that was bugging me. Feel free to post other ideas or rate mine. Personally I think number 4 is the most likely. If anybody knows the answer from playing the CSV (crappy stolen version) then please keep it to yourself. This thread is for speculation only.

Um, dude, there's a reason the Rumours and Speculation forum exists. This is it... Anyhooz, I read that Alyx had 'partnered with Gordon in X-Files fashion' by the G-Man in PC Gamer magazine UK edition

Whoops. I never thought of posting it there. Is my face red!

About the Alyx/Gordon partnership, thats interesting news. I never really read those mags so I must have missed it. But how does the g-man fit into all this? I really must take my hat off to the HL writers. I like a game with a good plot, and HL2 looks to have one of the best.

Anyway, yeah PCGamer said that Gordon is kind of the G-Man's agent or 'gun b!tch' as they put it and he gets teamed up with Alyx and sent to City 17 to deal with the Xen invasion. Or similar.

I think gordon rebelled from the gman, but was too valuable against the aliens, so G-man brainwashed him & dropped him off.....(HL2 Starts)

Brainwashed and trained hom to be a mindless assassin! Then he fell in love with Alyx and remembered everything but is still working for G-Man so he can kill G-Man when they meet in person!
