The game freezes right after I destroy breen's sphere

I'm right at the point after I destroy breen's dark energy sphere, and Alex goes "Yes! you did it! now maybe we can..." and then a huge explosion, but the game locks up with the sound looping over and over. Is there anything I can do about this?

My specs:

P4 2.0 ghz intel motherboard

1GB DDR 3200 ram

ATI 9700 all in wonder pro video card latest omega drivers

How long did you leave it before you assumed it was locked up because (Very slight spoiler)

Could you be mistaking that for a lock up?

Ya mine locks up at a certain spot too every time I play.

I waited 20 minutes and it did absolutley nothing but stay in one spot and the sound loops over and over. So yeah, something is wrong here.

One thing I'd try is to start a new game at the Dark Energy chapter and see if it works this time.
