The Game That Changed Gaming?

Starcraft. Balance was so badass.

Bullshit. I hate starcraft. Balanced my ass.

Oh wow, I'll defend my base! Let me build some stuff. Wow! I need two entirely different buildings to defend against air and ground, now it takes twice the time and twice the space. And isn't that cool! The air defense system has a shorter range than the air units that can attack it! Wow that is so fantastically retarded!

I hate games were you have weapons that can only attack one class (like in starcraft), or where the weapon does 100 damage to one unit, but only 45 to another. If i shoot a tank with a .50cal and a person with a .50cal, the weapon didn't do less damage to the tank, it's just that the tank is stronger.

Total Annihilation > starcraft, only reason more people play starcraft is because of those damn koreans.

Agreeded to a certain extent. As much as I loved the setting (And it was awesome) The basic gameplay mechanics irritated me so much that I just couldn't play it anymore. Seriously, games that force you to micro-manage exery little thing irritate me. But then again, I'm a C&C person myself. :p

MYST was the first game ever to utilise the compact disk and influenced game developers and PC users alike to adopt the CD as standard gaming media. What's more, for almost a decade, it was the best selling game franchise on pc/mac platforms, topped only recently by The Sims.

Love it or hate it, I'd say that was pretty influential in changing the shape of gaming.
Truths.

As well, how come no one's mentioned any adventure games? Wouldn't those qualify for 'immersive storyline'?
