Face it, Half Life 2 missed the boat with all of the lying, deciet, and endless delays. They really lost the faith of their fanbase. It was funnny how Gabe said it was the source code theft that delayed the game...then the liar came back and said he never said that.

People do not have a ton of money to buy two full priced games. When they have to make a choice they will choose Doom 3. Once because based on the 94% PC Gamer review, the game is amazing.

I have played Half Life 2 and it is nothing more than a glorified tech demo with neat physics. The sad thing is is that most games have that already. I mean, generally speaking, Painkiller was the first to the market with real time physics and antitrospic filtering. What is Half Life 2 doing that is so new to the market?

At least id and Carmack knew that they had to innovate with Doom 3. This is going to be the Resident Evil of First Person shooters. :imu: Definately a more exciting premise than a version of a 1997 game with better graphics.

I'm sorry, Doom 3 is an awesome game, but calling it innovative? It's a freaking remake of Doom! And HL is from 1998.

I find this point hilarious because it is actually just the opposite of what you said. HL2 has a new storyline, while Doom 3 is, as even Carmack says, a remake of the Doom 1 storyline on a new engine.

Finally, why did you even post this? Are you trying to change our minds and make us admit that D3>HL2? Or do you just want to get flamed?

What makes you think anyone has to take sides anyway? I will buy D3 when it comes out as well as HL2. I think they both look like great games with a great future for mods. Why can't we all just get along?

Doom 3 has some story to it. It dosn't sound too bad to be honest (and I'm really not into Doom at all)
I'm not sure how good of an over all story it will be, since John C. said that having a story in a video game is like having a story in porn. Seems to be a very ignorant quote by him.
Anyway, we'll see when their both out.

We all know HL2 will beat the shit out of Doom 3. But who says it can't still be a fun game? : )
