The greatest games...

Well, here's my short list of games I consider to be some of the best an this list certainly isn't all complete, just what I can think of right now...

in no particular order

Half-Life
Thief
System Shock 2
Goldeneye
Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri
Homeworld
BF1942
Doom series

Carmageddon, see if you can dig up a copy and play on LAn with friends - lots of fun too bad I lost mine

Quake 3
Resident Evil 2
Xenogears
Super Metroid - much better than Metroid Prime, I think

oops, I forgot to say Morrowind - I can understand why some don't like it, but I still think you have to respect it for what it's trying to do.

Operation Flash Point

Now that game was fun.... Sure it has a shit load of bugs but after a few hundred patches and a couple of addons.. the game was fantastic.... Only game I know that had landscapes that strech for 20-100 miles! You could also drive literally hundreds of viechles around from planes, to helicopters, tanks, cars, you name it without even starting a new game because of the many mod makers around.

Its also one of the most realistic games around! (Unlike shitty Bf1942)...

Also if you got fimilar with the basic map maker that was built into it, you could make any type of situation you would want! Ex: Racing... WWII battles... WWIII with the russians! (also long as you downloaded mod maker packs like WWII packs.)

I even re-created the spectacular Apocalypse Now helicopter raid on the vietnam communist village(My avatar is a movie clip from it)! It had all the cut sences from the "Ride of the Valkeries" music being blasted on the helicopter's loudspeakers to the Vietnamese teenage girl throwing a grenade into a Huey Helicopter and blowing it to hell! I only made this map to show friends and never released it (except for a few tutorials on how to add music easily.) The "triggers" didn't always work right and it would of literally take months to get it to work properly 100%...

Sadly OP is kinda outdated as I stopped messing around with the editor 1yr 6months ago and I unistalled the whole thing about a month ago...

All consoles

Lagoon (not really sure why, but this RPG sticks out for some reason)
Anything Mario
Anything Final Fantasy (I love 'em all)
Resident Evil 2 (only good RE game IMO)
Silent Hill

The PC

Thief
Thief II: The metal age

Half-Life (of course)
System Shock 2
Deus Ex
Doom
Wolfenstein (very first game I ever played)

Dont think ive seen Total Anhilation mentioned yet......

That was one of the best RTS games ever.

yeah, Op:Flashpoint was kick-ass, i meant to include that too. wasn't bohemia interactive supposed to be making a sequel to it though? i read that they got contracted by the US military to make video-game training simulators.. if they did a sequel using havok physics, how sweet would that be?

Here's my list... unfortunately I haven't gotten many games recently so none of these are very new. Trying to keep it short here, but I probably won't succeed. Well anyways:

*Commander Keen-- I loved those teddy bears, haha. And I downloaded it about a month ago and was thinking "the sound is so loud" so I turned off my speakers... and then "oh my gosh, the sound's coming out of my computer." And I relearned what all those F- buttons at the top of the keyboard do...
*Duke Nukem-- does anybody remember if there was a game called Duke Nukem that was really old, like Commander Keen, and for little kids. I distinctly remembered a kid's game called Duke Nukem but now I'm not sure if I'm remembering right.
*Wolfenstein-- I can't remember a time when I didn't play this game. And then it was installed in all the computers in the science classrooms in middle school, haha, that was great.
*Blood-- If I remember right, the levels actually connected together in this game... and also light switches? That totally amazed me.... and mimes at the carnival, and Happy Go Pukey, hehe.
*Age of Empires (the demo, I, II, Expansion for II)-- The game where I actually started using the right-button on the mouse. And the first time I played multiplayer.
*Half-Life-- Got it from my cousin after I hadn't played a new FPS for a long time. Amazing.

yup, an early 90's game by apogee (there was a sequel too i think). i think they were called "nukum" though.

oh wow, duke nukum, yay, thanks! :D :D
this day just keeps getting better.... no school, shyamalan making a new movie, duke nukum... old games make the world a better place... ah haha, almost makes me feel like changing my depressing signature but i'm too lazy to do that
oh no, i think i'm hyper

My favorite games:

Myth series, by bungie. Had one of the best stories in a game ever imo, very "epic" feeling to it. Excellent gameplay, gory and fun. You can find myth I and II together in a pack called the total codex for about 15-20 bucks, anyone that like's RTS's should check it out if you haven't, or try the demo. (damn your microsoft for killing my favorite rts!)

Blade of darkness - a Excellent Medieval Action game. Think Die by the sword, but with a better combat system. You can choose between a Barb, Dwarf, knight, Amazon. The combat is what made this game sooooo great. it was not the simple "push push push kill kill kill" it took SKILL and effort, blocking attacks, knowing when to attack and how. It was also very gory. I recommend anyone to check out the demo of it.

Sanitarium - A creepy Adventure game. Well told story with very memorable places and characters. One of those games you'll remember for a long time.

Lands of lore I/II - some of my first adventure/rpg's, i loved them at the time, still remember them.
