So is the Gears of War movie, apparently.
Hooray?
Wow, they dropped one of the few games that would've actually made a decent movie?
Throw in some no name actors, lots of CGI and pyrotechnics, a booming soundtrack and a little story and you've got the Halo movie.
only successful game movie was resident evil series..
GTFO.only successful game movie was resident evil series..
So Hollywood, how about some original movies instead of pathetic, half-assed video game copies?
The only video game movies that I've seen that were actually pretty faithful to their video game counterparts were Mortal Kombat 1 and Silent Hill.
I wouldn't even say silent hill was that good either. :|

You forgot Doom. People give the Doom movie a lot of flak, but honestly, best movie translation possible, given the subject matter. Only way it could've been improved would have been the addition of, "Here comes the night train!"The only video game movies that I've seen that were actually pretty faithful to their video game counterparts were Mortal Kombat 1 and Silent Hill.
1.) Halo is not bad subject material. Not brilliant, mind you. But competent and would have made a satisfactory vessel for a film.
2.) Uwe Boll was not behind this. There was going to be serious money and production behind this. It was being taken seriously.
3.) DID YOU NOT SEE THE DIRECTOR'S PREVIOUS SHORT FILMS? They were great. The man has talent and it was safe to assume he would have tried to do a damn good job at it.
Sweet.
Halo could have very well turned into a bad movie, but it was a project I actually had some faith in. I think it had the potential to be one of the first good and respectable game-to-film translations.

So I'm somewhat depressed by this news.
**** you lot.

Anyway, I wasn't too invested in the thought of a Halo movie to begin with. Who's to say what the quality would have been, but eh, I enjoyed seeing the story unfold through the games, so to me it isn't a big loss.
The only way it could have been improved was by using Doom's actual story (New chromosome mutates differently whether you're good/evil, WTF? Pathetic story), having an actual scary/horror atmosphere and not having an incredibly retarded and crap first-person sequence. You forgot Doom. But Doom isn't scary. Well, none of the monsters were, just the atmosphere. But after playing it for awhile, you're kinda like, "Eh, creepy dark room again." I think the movie captured that. The only way it could have been improved was by using Doom's actual story (New chromosome mutates differently whether you're good/evil, WTF? And they opened a portal to Hell in the movie, didn't they? Well in any case they addressed demons. The chromosome shit was a bit , but what're you gonna do? I think they were just trying to get the story out of the way as quickly as possible anyway. While I thought it was stupid when I heard it, I wouldn't have been any more impressed with the movie if they had said, "We opened a portal to Hell and all these monsters started coming out and turning other people into monsters." No one's looking for STORY in Doom. You just want to see creepy things get shot in dark rooms. Movie delivered.
