Parasitic websites that lead you in with... Websites that just steal content and post it like it's a blog, or worse, they pretend like they have content, then link you to another site that actually has the content. Only when you follow that link you just get a lot of pop ups and they want you want you to sign up for some bullshit. And it's not just porn either, all kinds of sites do this. Websites that show you their top 10 list of crazy photos or whatnot and if you click on any of them you just get another site with more top 10 lists.

Oh just to make this a thread, feel free to post whatever other crap you want to rant about concerning the state if the internet.

I've changed the title of this thread so that it doesn't turn into a "let's all spam about things we personally hate and never bother engaging with each other's posts" thread. Because if that happened I would have to close it, and that would be a tragedy.

I don't think they steal the content, they probably have an arrangement with the other websites.

And I don't know what particular websites you have in mind, but I'll take Liveleak.com for example. It provides mostly video content and it serves it's purpose - the thumbnail adverts linking to other sites are below and to the side of the video and don't get in the way. Sometimes when I'm bored I click them and watch some of the top ten (or whatever) lists. No harm done.

typical examples:
http://be-amazed.net/ how do they produce all of this content? oh they just acquire it without any credit to the source
http://2leep.com/0/1/2662/ see how many popups you get from navigating this web page.

I know, I've encountered plenty of sites like this too. You see somtething you like, and click on the link only to be redirected to yet another site with a mass of thumbnails. It's extremely annoying.
The only thing to do is exit, and try to find what you're looking for somewhere else.

Websites that sign you up, take a few card details, withdraw more money than agreed, then dont have an account section or an ability to cancel on their site so you have to cancel your card and go through all the headache that causes. Sneaky yet effective.

Which is why I rarely if ever use my card on the net. And if I do buy something on the net, I pay for it in cash on delivery.

Use credit card online not debit.

Lol, I hope that was a joke dynasty. You'd have to be pretty dumb to give your card information to a site that you don't look up first. Always look around to see if other people have used the site before if your on an unfamiliar and unpopular site.

God gave man a brain and a penis, but only enough blood to run one at a time.

I hate sites that are just filled with keywords and spam links. ie: http://www.care2.com/c2c/share/detail/2576053

because many credit cards are insured; purchase protection insurance

When a search engine comes along that isn't manipulatable by this crap, I'll have to stop writing it.

I hate download sites that take you through six links only for you to find out you need to subscribe to something.

People on the internet are meanies. =(

Twitter makes me irritable. I've always hated the part where virtually every post is filled with @, #, and RT, especially when, say, twitter user A retweets something that user B tweeted mentioning user A like: RT @B: blah @A @C bluh @D #bleh. But it was worth it to get updates on concerts and events, especially since I just got the RSS feed and plopped it into google reader so it was efficiently aggregated. Then Twitter took away the RSS feeds. :flame:

While I'm at it, I also don't understand the Tumblr format of listing people who "liked" a post below it. Why?! I get how it might be cool for the person who wrote the original post to see that, but nobody else cares that 25 random people "liked" something. I'm fine with comments sections on standard blogs where people actually write something with half a thought in it, but a whole section consisting of a long list of "person A liked this. person B liked this. person C liked this." -- WTF. If anything, at least aggregate/hide it in a tiny icon with a number next to it, like in Facebook.

Rage comics.

Just... stop making rage comics, okay. Everyone. Please. Thank you.

Nice rage comic, reminds me of my friend who gets up at 5 in the morning.

Those comics fail to be clever or amusing 99.99% of the time. See above examples.

Congratulations. It only took you 15 - 20 years to figure this out.
