...and it's really frustrating. :frown:

First of all, I've only made $120 bucks from my online marketing campaigns (currently I'm promoting a PSP downloads membership site. I don't even own a PSP either, LOL) and now I've lost a bid in ebay. I almost purchased a brand new $200 leather overcoat for only $1.00 until someone snatched it right out from under my nose at the very last minute before the bid closed for only a few bucks more.

Such a pain. I've had to just get up and stagger to bed last night after suffering a serious defeat on the internets for the first time ever. Never in my life have I ever been owned like this by a bunch of net junkies until now. I'm still dumbfounded.

Has anyone else here at HL2.net ever had this experience with the internets or ebay before?

If you were willing to play "a few bucks more" why didn't you raise your maximum bid?

Learn to ebay.

I know, I KNOW! :arms:

What happened was I turned my back on the last 22 minutes before the bid closed. What people tend to do is place a bid at the very last minute. I don't stand a chance against this kind of strategy with my crappy dial-up connection. I can't wait to upgrade to Sprint wireless.

You need to lower your expectations even more than they are now.

That is the whole point of maximum bid. You shouldn't HAVE to be quick to outbid someone who suddenly bids at the last minute.

You set your max bid to the max amount you are willing to pay for the item. That's it. If you're unhappy with the way it turned out, you obviously were having an internal struggle in deciding how much you are willing to spend. And it's probably best because sometimes when people keep outbidding you you end up spending more than you initially planned on, just because you are driven by how close it seems you are to winning.

I love outbidding people at the last second. It gives me great satisfaction knowing that someone has waited possibly days for this auction to end, and do they get anything out of it? No! :)

Wow. This leather coat I purchased off eBay for 5$ was such a good buy. I jumped on with 20 minutes left in the auction and placed a 5$ bid, and I won it! Apparently, no one else likes this coat that much and didn't care about winning it. Thank God I was able to get on in that extended amount of time to place this little bid. Now, I have this coat forever. What a good purchase.

A++ Would buy again!!

And you're stuck with a porcelain cat.

Dunno if it counts but some nights its not even worth logging into Steam TF2 is kicking my ass so badly.

Some nights, rare as they are, I just get dominated by 5 different guys and the lag is freezing me at the worst times just long enough to realize its spiked and then behold my defeated corpse smashed up against a wall as the triumphant berk who killed me as I was standing still runs on oblivious to the fact I was away to blow his head off.

Count yourself lucky! If you're only making $120 a week, spending $200 on the coat would have just ****ed you over :)

The internet loves me and I couldn't be happier with it.

Oh there there, let me dry those tears.

*wipes away tears and licks them off his finger*

Mmm yes, yes, your anguish sustains me.

Cant say ive used ebay ever...but ive heard bad things like what happened to you.
