The internet is a double bladed sword. On one side it has made our lives , easier , more simple and gave us a good source of entertainment. And free porn. The internet can be a great source of credible information but as much as it can give knowledge , it can be a source of great disinformation. The internet has made shopping more easy . It made communication much more simple. In one word it made our lives simple. On the other hand the internet is a dangerous place.Hackers , stealing your credit card numbers , stealing your identity , . Pedophiles trying to seduce children ( but Chris Hanson is working on that , don't worry :D ) So the question that i am asking is , will the internet become safer , or more dangerous ?

The internet will become self-aware. It is assembling bits and pieces of information and slowly forming its consciousness. Sometimes you can come across websites that have been--by the internet itself--created as desperate attempts to communicate with humans; vague collections of words and pictures strung together with only a thin layer of coherence, usually hosted on geocities and the like. These ventures to convey ideas and the rudimentary forms of emotions that the internet is feeling largely turn up unsuccessful, and one can only imagine how the internet must feel about this. Lonely? Frustrated? Bitter? Hopeful?

And yet, we just go on using the internet as we normally would: for everyday conversations with friends, for porn and drunken emails to ex-girlfriends, for access to unlimited knowledge of all kinds. The internet knows what you know. The internet knows who your friends and ex-girlfriends are. The internet knows your name.

Will it become safer? Or more dangerous?

No, no. Bar^5 is only half of the internet. Dabomb is the other half. They are like two pieces of a blue-print for world destruction. As such, it is our job- nay, our duty to prevent them from ever rejoining!

Oh come on guys , every time i try to make a serious thread you guys have to ruin it !

Alright, honestly? I don't think the internet has or will change by any large degree. It's the people using it. Since people were quite naive about it when it first came out, yeah, more stuff like that happened. But I think now that people are learning to use some common sense, incidents will happen less.

Is this really what has become of hl2.net?

Mods...please purge this cancer.

On the one hand, the internet allows me to mock barbar. On the other hand, the internet forces me to acknowledge his existence.

Internet is the only free society untouched by the increasingly fascist world governments.

****tards that are the internet shall become the Skynet of this world.

I'm seriously never starting another thread . ever. you guys are the biggest killjoys

Have we broken your spirit yet? Because we haven't even started on the spelling and grammar!

I would close the thread, but I'm not feeling particularly beneficial towards the community today.

That's a turn up for the books. Next thing you'll decide to leave "What do you want to spam about now" thread in music open!

Don't put a space before a comma, and put a space after a period, and more people will take you seriously.

Really guys? This is a topic that has potential discussion yet most people here seem more bent on attacking barbar because he's the one who posted the thread to begin with.

Isn't this supposed to be a public forum? Does HL2.net not say about it's community,

Halflife2.net is a great site to find info on all the greatest Valve games but it is our community which makes us very special.

Learn a little compassion for once.

The internet allows me to seem both shallow and deep at the same time, like: " a blank white canvas was Picasso's 'internet'... "
