I just got into these guys. Its not too often I find a band that I can really appriciate. Sure the odd tracks from new bands come out, but usually most of their other work comes up short. After listening to The Killers full, "Hot Fuzz", a few times, I can really say that I am a fan. Not since The Strokes a few years back have I found a new band I appriciate so much.

Their hit song, "Somebody Told Me", really didnt impress me so much, and still is not a big fave. But the grove and lyrics of "Mr Brightside", the Beatlesesc pop of "All these things that I've done", the rocking ballad to rock "Indie Rock and Roll", and many other great tracks really suprised me.

It was actually just 10 seconds into "Mr Brightside" that I realized these guys had potential.

Has anybody else discovered this great band?

(So you get a sense of my tastes, other bands I've been listening to recently: Powerman 5k, Jimmy Eat World, Radiohead)

They've only got to vids on the charts and are racking up massive sales...I don't suppose anyone else has heard of them? :D
No, but really I picked up the CD a few weeks ago and its awesome. Good music. If you like them I'd also suggest Franz Ferdinand.

I tried Franz. Hes ok. The Killers are much better IMO.

A lot of bands hit the charts and get massive sales but are still just putting out calorie-free pop. That doesnt mean too much.

o/` Save some face, you know you've only got one
Change your ways while you're young

Clever and poignant.

Somebody told me and Mr Brightside are my two fav's from hot fuss as well, been jamming to those on the way to college everyday this week. You have good taste in music, the killers are a quality band.

I've gotten into the killers a lot, the special effects add a really quirky feel to the music, which isn't that bad on its own. Jenny was a friend of mine, imho, is a feckin brilliant song :D

the three singles as well as indie rock and roll and Andy you're a star are also damn good.

"It's not confidential, they've got potential" for being an excellent band :O

They use synthesizers. Its actually very 80's sounding, subltly mixed into a current rock edge. I dig it.

They're still around. I believe their second album, "Room on Fire", did alirght. It took me a little while to get into it, but now I love that album as much as "Is This It?",. and am looking forward to their third release (no idea when that will be).

I really tried hating this band. But a song like Mr. Brightside and the video (American version) for it is awesome. "All These Things I've Done" is also a good song.

I don't know about these bands like the Strokes and Franz Ferdidnand. I recommend you guys to listen to the first Televison album and the second album by this band called Wire. Listening to their stuff makes you realize those bands are not doing anything new at all.

It doesnt have to be 'new' to be good, or to be a real contribution to the music scene. Theres always nuance and subtlety, not to mention infinate subject matter (lyrics are VERY important to me). There may have been bands similar to The Strokes, but The Strokes speak give me a certain energy I do not get from any other band.

I will check out Wire. I'm always on the hunt for good music.

**edit,. holy shit these guys are old,. first album in 1977?? I really doubt they've got Stroke's edge, but I will listen. Here is their discography:

They're really popular around here
I only like the chorus on Mr Brightside and All These Things That I've Done, other than that, I find them pretty boring. His voice is practically the exact same as the singer in Franz Ferdinand.

Wow first time I ever heard anyone saying the Strokes have edge. Well of course if what they do has been done before doesn't mean they don't make good songs. But I just hate it when bands pretend they are doing something new and the White Stripes don't get any slack. The best Wire album is Pink Flag. But for the taste of people who dig Franz Ferdinand and the Strokes, checkout the album 154. Along with the first and second Television album. I really don't like Television, but they are a huge influence on this revival thing going on.

Yeah I have to say the best part about Mr. Brightside is the chorus. Everything thing else on Hot Fuss is nothing to fuss about. Pun intended.
