hl2 supposed to go gold around about 19 Sept to make 30 shipment date. but instead it's stolen. systems comprimised.

now Valve have to work hard to make mp not cheatable. prevent hacking of legally bought games wehen released. etc.

and they have to do it quick to make it in time for holiday release.

The reason for the delay was internationalization and steam. They were going to put off the Peer to Peer part of steam until later but gabe realized they needed it for HL2 to be successful. Thats also the reason why 1.6 hacks arent getting fixed

More speculation of course unless you can link me to a post by Gabe or Doug that corroborates your story.

It is just not finished guys, I am not saying the other factors are not contributing but even if they were not the game is still not finished.

There was a leaked conversation that an administrator of this site had with a Valve employee that definitely supported the Steam argument.

i disagree. each forum has monitors. its possible, but it would be a hassle.

i thought of another positive. That if someone gets banned. and creates a new acount, they are unable to spam threads like i've seen done many times, becuase they'll come back as headcrabs.

so they would have to spam in a thread first. and you have a 30 second delay between making threads. it would be a very very very big pain. i think that would keep things way quiter.

plus the positives out weigh that one possiblity you present.

I fully understand i was a headcrab once. And if you wished i'd make a new acount and become a headcrab again if this action was to take effect.
