THE LION KING

is awesome.

This is the Lion King appreciation thread.

You do not **** with the Lion King.

Lions are actually not really very pretty creatures.

Appreciation, sulkdoodz, not let's be witty and say something contrary to expectations.

Singularly one of the greatest animated features of all time. I prefer the second to the first however. Romeo and Juliet > Hamlet.

The sounds of Simba's dying gasps
his daughter squealing in my grasp
his lioness's mournful cry
that's my lullaby

<3

This is a African Lion

This is a Lying African

Any Questions?

What the hell, Uriel, that simultaneously made me cackle and get angry for derailing my awesome thread.

The two best characters in the movie.

Best character in the movie.
Fixed.

Disney writes such great villains. None so Machiavellian as Scar, though. Offing your brother, exiling the prince, enlisting help from former enemies (the hyenas), and then setting up your own heir (Kovu), all for power and position.

And he has one of the best villain songs. It's up there with Hellfire and You're Only Second Rate.

Loving father, strong, proud, and righteous leader.

Mufasa > Scar

Yeah, but Scar beat him. All of Mufasa's virtues couldn't stop Scar's cunning.

Mufasa's role as a father, raising his son Simba to be king, led to Scar's defeat. It is through Mufasa's wisdom that he avenges his own death, albeit indirectly.

But then, indirectly as well, Scar did have a minor victory in Kovu. Kovu will become king, and even though he's nothing like Scar, and doesn't want to be associated with the memory of Scar, Scar chose him specifically to be his heir, which happened.

The sequel was the greatest. It was better than the original.

If anyone wants to, I will sing "Be Prepared" with them, in the role of Scar.

The Lion King had a great song about the virtues of apathy in there.

What sing in this thread? Yeah, I'll sing. I'll back you up, Scar.

I liked that website that described the pig and rodent who promoted extreme apathy.

OJ is not pleased. More OJ in thread, demands OJ.

I loved this movie as a kid, had countless toys.

I'd love to rewatch it, but I only have it on VHS and I'm without a VCR atm. D:

Danimal is lame and The Lion King is ace, so I hope it's okay that I re-open this thread.
As compromise, though, it's going to the film forum.

So, yeah, Disney villains, Magnificent.

(Sorry, Dan. )

The scene where Simba's dad died is without a doubt the saddest movie scene of all time.

Lion King <3

The sequel sucked, BTW.

disney morality pushing jesus mythos makes for marketing lions share of merchandise for years to come

it's not just entertainment anymore it's IP branding

Same here. Just rewatched the movie after 10 years in original and it's one of the greatest films I watched.

Besides, watching it after 10 years, after /b/aptizing and such, alters the perception of the movie significantly. It did feel like Hamlet, but on acid.

Appreciation from Disney's whore children!
I feel 6 again!! XD
(end sarcasm)

I'm still glad and proud I wasn't born in this generation.

But yeah... You cant help to sing "Can you feel the love tonight" sometimes... Timon and Pumbaa are hilarious. Not my favorite, but good still.

The Lion King is without a doubt one of the greatest animated films ever. I wish I had it on DVD. :<
