Apparat? Who? :(

I think I'm about due to stick my neck out from my hole and see what else exists. I'll check him out along with some of the other recommendations I've amassed over the months but have been too lazy to sample.
 
I have a LOT of random IDM - my ex-boss gave me a DVD full of obscure IDM that I still haven't been able to listen to all of.

If you want, I could probably burn it on DVD and then give or mail it to you physically, seeing as how you are close in proximity. Speaking of, my dorm at UNC next year is actually ON Franklin Street, so if you're ever in Chapel Hill let me know.

As far as Apparat is concerned, I recommend Duplex and his latest album Walls.

What a dark, beautiful song. It reminds me a lot of Clint Mansell's stuff, because the main background synth in it sounds almost exactly like one of the ones he uses a lot.

My sister always used to put on that song like 4 years ago when she still lived here. It reminds me of her :( I really liked it. Thanks for reminding me of it cuz ima go listen to it now ^_^
