Aswell as the range being extended, and the way it pulls things along the floor, I noticed something else different about the manipulator.

It might be just me, but the 'prongs' on the front don't open any more when it's pointing at something pick-uppable. Maybe valve decided it was too annoying once they had so many physical objects. It's very apparent in the zombie bit. When gordon drags the wooden thing towards him, the front of the manip is closed until it's actually in the 'grip'.

Just thought id point it out, or maybe I should get out more...

Look a few seconds later when Gordon goes up to the barricaded doorway - the Manipulator's 'grip' opens when it's pointed towards the wooden planks. I think it didn't react to the wooden tray because it was too far away.

Yeah, I saw the prongs open too. Watch the rollermine part when he's in the attic picking up ammo.

Another thing I saw, watch in the toolshed when he picks up the table and tosses it away. The manipulator does not 'blast' it like normally, there is no orange spark, it just kind of tosses the table away. Does that mean the manipulator can 'drop' things without blasting them, and when it does they get tossed a little bit?

Yeah, guess I didn't look closely enough. Seems that the range has been extended quite a bit though, if he can pick up that tray from so far away. That, coupled with the huge amount of explosives throughout the game should make for some fun!

I guess it would make sense to be able to drop something. As for it being thrown a bit, that was probably because of the simulated momentum.

You can drop them, and there is centripical force in the game.

By the way, is my imagination, or does that little needle on the manipulator move when it picks something up?
