The meaning of accountability and why Valve doesn't get it.

I don't know how anybody can complain. I have an n.Vidia G.eForce FX 5600 and HL2 runs on full settings 1024x768 with high shader effects with pretty much 0 slow downs. If I can do that, then why do other people have problems with the game?

I'm so sick of people bitching about the game and how much they hate Valve. If it weren't for Valve, you wouldn't have HL2, HL1, Counter-strike, CS:S, TFC, DoD or anything. Games are going to have bugs. The same people who were whining that Valve needed to release HL2 faster are now complaining that the game was rushed. It's just stupid. It's a new game, it will be fixed. Some people would rather look for things to complain about rather than just enjoy the game.

Valve is not this evil company that you make it out to be. They put more time into their games than most developers combined. They spend more time talking to the community than most devs. Loads of uninspired junk spews out of EA games all year long, but with Valve, we get 1 epic game that takes a while to be finished, but is so much more enjoyable than everything else, making it well worth the wait.

If you absolutely have to complain, e-mail Valve and tell them what you told us. Valve doesn't check these forums 24/7, they don't hear all of your demands.

I would love to see you take a trip to VALVe and tell that to them in person. :rolling:

Or even write them an eMail about it for that matter.

I would love to make a trip to Valve and tell them that in person. Unfortunatley I think they only give tours to blind fanbois such as yourself. But if I'm wrong and they do give tours to people who disagree with their business practices, I'm up for it.

Indeed. If you think HL2 is bugged, try playing Vampire Bloodlines. That'll teach you what a real bugged game is like.

Congrats on once again talking out of your ass.
*claps*

You don't even need to tour them. Gabe's phone number is publicly listed. Give him a call. Ask to visit VALVe and bitch out the staff for working 6 years (atleased 1 of them were filled with 20 hour days) to put out a game. Have fun with that.

Okay imagine this for a second, you are playing the awesome game that is HL2, rolling along at 60fps shooting some combine baddies, when suddenly your game freezes for a full second before releasing, okay no problem, I'm still alive, now imagine the game does that every 10-15 seconds, forever.

Or put yourself in the shoes of people who have it really bad, the ones who encounter the fatal memory errors on a regular basis, and that consistently your game will crash every 30-45 mins.

I mean really, how can anyone complain?

Release dates are subject to change. Prerelease videos are not indicative of final content. Released software will always have bugs, you should be glad that Valve tends to be johnny on the spot in cleaning them up. Anti-piracy options are used at the disgression of developer/producer.

Sorry if you got too into the hype, but Valve really hasn't done anything that isn't their right to do. I guess you could always sell you're copy of HL2 and just play the leak over and over, cause that seems to be what you're demanding.

p.s. Need I mention Doom 3's shit surround sound support? yeah, hitting a button every 2 minutes to reinitialize the sound engine is great gameplay.

Where can I find this publicly listed phone number? Google gave nothing.

I have the audio one and i managed to find a workaround to reduce a large amount of it. all i did was turn down my texture detail from high to medium, voi-la. It still happens every now and then but not nearly as much as it did before. I can understand why people can complain but complaining doesnt solve shit, they're working on the patch now, what else can they do?

Yeah, and for some reason this forum gets tons of people bitching about the game's problems as if their not being worked on. Why are you people comming here to complain anyway? This is an unoffical forum for Half-Life 2. Your complaints mean nothing more than flame-bait here.

By posting complaints here your just asking for troubble from the commity. Thusly, any half-assed replies or flames you get is your own fault. The only reason you'd be posting this kinda crap here is to get a rise out of people.

If you have legitimate complaints, eMail VALVe about it. Or visit the Steam Forums (the cesspool of crap that it is).

The second that my game stops crashing and stuttering on a regular basis when it is clearly not my fault, I will stop complaining. (I have 3 pc's with varying hardware/software setups and it does it on all of them.)

All I'm asking for is the game to work, please explain to me how that is unreasonable. I payed money for something and I want the product to be useable, ya Im a real jerk.

See I mean, its just SO HARD to search

Well, you first have to Search for a White Pages website... and the Search for "Gabe Newell". Unfortunetly Google can't give us everything (but damn close to it).

How were the bink videos a farse? I have personally played through the 2004 demo levels, and they are just as good as they looked. The 2003 levels weren't in the game, but their style of gameplay is. I think that some people took the binks for more than they actually are - inferred that the entire game would be one incredible scripted sequence after another with some kind of epic 900 page novel story. This is just an fps, after all.

Works just fine for me bud....

I feel really bad for the people who are having all these problems but I feel even worse for valve having to put up with a bunch of half retards.

Meh... their not all retarded. Some are just so furious that they can't play the game they've been waiting years for that they go berserk.

It's somewhat understandable.

I'm confused of what the obvious lie here is, can you point me to one?

Is it the multiplayer part? It's not a lie, it would have been if you opened the box, expecting a brand new multiplayer like Valve told you and find nothing, but it's not, it was well know ahead of release that CS was the only MP. But please, point me to the lie here. It probably got canned somewhere during the development, for whatever reason.

Is it the very vague 'holiday' releasedate? If it is: give it a rest.
But I'll try to convince you, fruitless I predict, but whatever.
First of all, it was a very vague 'date', he didn't sound sure of himself at all. Second of all, as explained in Final Hours, the team lost its focus, as a result of the code theft, which added to the development time.
Third: it got delayed far beyond that holiday. Correct. Is that a sign of contempt of the customer or a sign of respect and the willingness to deliver a product worth their $50? They could have released it september 30, and made lots of money with a shitty game, that would have been contempt and disrespect. They could have made a quick sequel in 1999 to cash in on the enormous HL hype.

They didn't. Yet, they spend the best of 6 years, and 40 million dollars, developing a worthy sequel for your ungrateful ass. Be thankful there are still developers that attempt to do such a thing, and I'll happily accept any flaws that may come with it.

The word you were looking for is minority.(small majority = no no.) Nice to know that the only people who seem to have a problem with my opinion are the ones who can't compose sentences even resembling the English language.

Me no hablo engrish?

Now, be gone.

-Fatal memory errors, horrible loading times, massive amounts of audio stuttering that makes the game unplayable for many customers.

When I hear the word many I think of over half by a long shot...maybe even 3/4. In all reality, I've only heard of a FEW people complain about audio problems. And those long load times? Yeah, how dare they have you load up massively beautiful levels. They should have small, Atari 2800 2D style levels instead.

BTW I think you're very misguided. Just shut up and play the game.

Who the **** says the game doesn't work?!!? I'm running on a ****ing 256 MB RAM, GeForce 4 Mx 420 64MB... not a problem, glitch or bug in sight. **** your bullshit, go email Valve if you can't accept a well made game. LACK OF COMMUNITY SUPPORT?! What the **** do you think this is??? Who else has a program that AUTOMATICALLY downloads and installs patches without you having to visit any website?? What other corporation have you seen that allows a community to start work on mods before the full game comes out? **** you. September 30th release date... that was over a year ago. Get over it.

Ya know... some people are having problems where they can't run the game.

Don't put yourself out to be an ass like that, guy.
