Kotaku said:How does the multiplayer hold up? Multiplayer in Black Ops is largely the same as the core experience found in Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer. You still rank up, unlocking new abilities, weapons and looks. Instead of starting from scratch, Treyarch built on top of what came before it, giving you some new tweaks, modes and maps. The biggest change, though, is the addition of Wager Match, which allows you to bet the COD points you've earned. These points are what you use to unlock things in the game. Losing or winning them can be a pretty big deal and the added level of intensity is a welcome addition to multiplayer. There's enough here to render Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer obsolete.
The Bottom Line
Call of Duty: Black Ops is a powerful story. The game's missions explore a fascinating time in history, take us to places we've likely never been and put us in situations unusual and captivating, even for a video game. But what it does best, through both narrative and gameplay, is tell a story. As the game progressed I found myself anticipating the cut-scenes as much as I did the tightly crafted levels. Thinking back, I can easily forget whether the last absorbing moments of the game were played by me or for me. This is what video games should be, a confusion of interaction and story-telling, of graphics and camera movement, of play and parable.
thanks for the input guys. One slightly tangential question I must ask: How hardware-intensive is Battlefield: Bad Company 2 compared to Modern Warfare 2 and now, Black Ops?
I wish they would just stop, rename it Call of Duty 8 (which it really is) and then try to sell that to the players. I'm sure some people would get the idea.
One a year?! Why are people still buying this garbage? Is the world just full of morons now?
Call of Duty 25: Martian Warfare
But honestly I think even if they just called it straight up Call of Duty, plus the actual number, it would still sell. Some people just don't give a shit that it's mass produced garbage.

I'd suggest you get it on a console. I had a lot of issues with network lag on the PC version.
You know that IW as they previously existed are pretty much gone now because so many of them quit from Activision treating them like shit. This just in: There's a chance that down the line there'll be a COD set in the future. Now, Infinity Ward, we have had our quarrels in the past, but I will sign away my freedom for you if it has Captain Price IN SPACE. In fact, call it that. Call Of Duty x: Captain Price IN SPACE! Give us weapons that we can distinguish from 50% of other weapons (may I suggest one of my own devising: The Beard O'Bees. Your character has a sweet beard, and when you give the command, bees swarm out of it and attack your enemies to much mirth and giggles all around.). I don't care whether it is canon. Say it's fan-fiction or whatever. Make it turn out all to be a dream. I don't care, just give us Captain Price IN SPACE and all will be forgiven.
(Addendum: Apparently there was a cut level in MW2 which saw you fighting Russians in space, but it was cut for being unrealistic. Well done, IW. Hip hip freaking huzzah.)
