Matrix mode being copied and copied and used too much in games. LEAVE IT ALONE ALREADY!! :sniper:

Seriously, don't you people think that Matrix mode is getting old already and being used too much in games? It was cool now it's being dragged out too much. What's on your minds people?

"Matrix" mode should only be used for people who can't aim well and need to take their time.

Yes... yes... I heard somewhere that Quake 4 would have Matrix effects... I then proceeded to be sick.

I'm fine with it in games, but when they keep ripping it off in movies for no reason beyond "looking cool" I get mad.

Yeah, it annoys me. Like in Chaser and Firestarter (two games I bet you've never heard of) there is pointless bullet time effects.

I've heard of both.

Firestarter suxs

Chaser is mediocre.

The only games that uses it nicely are Max Payne 2 and The Specialists

Bullet time belongs in two games:
Max Payne (ok and MP2)
The Specialists mod for HL

Edit: and damn PVTRyan beat me too it... guess I need to read threads from now on

I guess we'll always have 1st posters like that...reporting post....
:x

It's a shame actually, the French already have a bad rep on America, and now I guess you're just some stupid (American or French, dunno) that comes along saying shit.... Maybe you're just an American trying to blame the French (your grammar is awful btw) but well, bye..

I'm more upset that movies always use it as opposed to games using it. Ever since The Matrix, bullet-time effects and slow-mo effects have really taken off...and none are really done as well or are in good situations.

And the Virtual Cop 3 arcade game implemented a bullet time effect as well, and it was pretty cool.

Q4 with bullet-time? Says who, FOX news?

In games, Slow-mo is often a fun effect, as you can use it to set up radical sequences.

In Perfect Dark, for example, you could take experimental drugs that speed up your thought processes, making the rest of the world seem slower by comparison.
Against someone with a rocket launcher, it could let you slow down the rocket to the point that you could get a good look at the details on the side and strafe out of the way, letting it past harmlessly. You had to be careful with them though, since you could carry a few doses, they only lasted for 10 (slowed down) seconds, and you had to switch off a gun for a few seconds while you ate them.

So, basically, if the slow-mo is actually a strategic decison, and is explained in such a way that it makes sense within the plot, I'm all for it.
It lets you get a pause from the spastic action, letting you feel a bit mre involved.

Still, some games have it for pretty much no reason at all, beyond making up for other shortcomings.
I own Max Payne 1, and it's fun, but without the slow-motion, it'd be crap.

Everything or Nothing has it, kinda, the idea is you slow down time so you can look around the area and identify targets, target stuff that can blow up and other helpful stuff.

And no you can't run.

But its nifty.

This is far off-topic, but i hate it when things are 'XTREME!'...
On topic: I like bullet-time, but I think Max Payne did it better than Enter the Matrix.
