The Most Hated Family in America

Ok, but still, her parents would be happy about her being in eternal agony.
meh. what i thought was really weird was how the pastor is supposed to have all this "scriptural" knowledge and yet he makes all these baseless statements without so much as quoting a book or even a chapter.

hmm, the weird thing, is that that one girl who went to college actually sounded somewhat intelligent, just with insane morals and ideas.

Admitting to question one's beliefs in such a closed-minded environment makes life so much more difficult. Usually you'll be...

(1) be overwhelmed by people trying to show you "the error of your ways"
(2) considered stupid/ignorant/sinful/weak by the community
(3) be ostracized and shunned
(4) never be able to return or only return under severe penalties.

To a much lesser extent, this is even true of most normal churches, but to leave a community like that? You need to be 200% sure because there's no going back and your entire life up to that point becomes a waste.

P.S. Remember where they were talking about family members that left? It sounded like they were talking about people that died.

Dumb people believe dumb things because they're dumb. Smart people believe dumb things because they're good at rationalizing them.

I don't think extremists like this are dumb people, which makes them all the more dangerous.

This is so true.

I think the true sign of a close minded perspective is (1) the incapacity or fear of questioning a belief and (2) shunning all those of opposing viewpoint, regardless of reasoning.

This Louis guy is quite funny, ive watched several of his documentaries since seeing this one. He's calm but condescending in an oblivious and.....respectful way( makes no sense i know)

Funny quote

"The Evangelicals made it very clear that if i continued to live the way i am then im going to straight to hell... but at least i'll get to smoke pot and go to gay bars.
