The Move thread

That did look pretty amazing. It'll be able to do 1000x as many types of games as Kinect.

Die by the Sword 2 would be godly.

Pretty impressive...and I really like that presenter guy a lot for some reason.

lol'd when he molested the octopus.

That actually was quite impressive. Much more accurate and responsive than I imagined it would be. The stretchy paper was pretty damn cool.

I thought this was around last year.

Edit: Looks better than I thought, though.

Looks hard to control because it's in the air. It's all shakey n' shit. Plus you need two to do nearly all that shit.

Mouse/KB 4LYFE

Honestly, though. I will wait and see what games they have. I wish them well.... this time.

Yeah, I imagine you wouldn't get the right feel for it. The balance would be all wrong, I mean.

Probably because he wasn't trying to butter it up. He introduced very naturally, and pointed out flaws.

The biggest problem I have with any kind of motion controller is that there is no, or very little resistance to make it feel right. The sword for example, you can swing that thing as fast as you can flick your wrist. The only way to make a game with different types of swords and fighting styles, like fighting with broadswords vs fencing weapons, is for them to artificially hinder animation speed, making a jarring incongruity between your actions with the controller and the actions happening in game. The only games that this control style would actually work with is games where weight, resistance and feel are irrelevant.

Or creating dynamic artificial gravity wells or something.

Lightsaber.

You know what would be cool? Penumbra. But they won't make shit like this for 10 years after nobody gives a shit anymore.

A lot more impressive than I thought it would be. Let's hope the software makes it worthwhile.

Impressive marketing maybe. Didn't see anything particularly enticing there.

Same for me. Great commercial but I could / couldn't care less about Move or motion-based gaming in general.

Not even for a RDR sequel with proper Move based MP dueling?

this.

I think the move will make it easier to manipulate objects in the environment, as opposed to kinect
so if and when I decide to get into motion controlled gaming, it'll likely be with the ps3

That chameleon part of the demo blew my mind, honestly. I can see something like that really applied to first-person games, such as grabbing ledges/rope and climbing them. If done correctly, I think it would be very enjoyable.

No offense, but I haven't really looked into this and it just seems to me like a Wii with better graphics. It isn't really selling me there. Is there anything that makes it different from a Wii?

The tracking is supposedly much better.

Since the PlayStation Move just came out about a day ago, I wanted to revive this slightly old thread. Anyone here use it, yet?

in b4 Move or kinect don't get enough games to justify purchase and flop.

Yeah, it's really going to come down to some extremely clever devs to figure out how to make games with this tech that don't seem altogether gimmicky. That said, it looks like it has some seriously cool potential...though I am not holding my breath. It will be a while I think before anything remotely close to a killer app comes along. Plus for the most part I would almost always rather game while sitting as opposed to standing and flailing.

I bought two move controllers and the Sports Champions. The tracking is accurate and it's actually really fun. We used to have a Wii for parties, but no one really liked anything on it, sports was damn boring gesture shit and the only function it had was making people pass out.

We had a session with about 7 players and every one was praising the controls. Hell, we actually forgot to go to the bar because of the Gladiator game mode :p
