Recently i've been playing HL2 and i noticed that the music stops playing once you get to a 'loading'. I saw that this also happens with Half-Life: Source. Is there any way to make it continue playing? Thanks in advance

Nope. I have yet to find the actuall music files in the HL2 dir. Kinda fun if you use 'soundlist' in the console and bind a key to play a sound
eg bind f "play *soundname*"

Music files are in the GCF file, source_sounds i think.
I made my unofficial HL2 soundtrack from them. :)

If you have the tracks on your pc play them in Windows Media Player or whatever. And turn down the music volume in Half Life 2 ;)

I'd like to hear it :)

You can extract all the files from source sounds.gcf in the steam folder (use GCFscape). The mp3s are located somewhere easy to find, like sounds\music.

Then I used the track information some people on this thread gave: http://www.halflife2.net/forums/showthread.php?t=53779&page=3&pp=15&highlight=soundtrack

What i meant by unofficial soundtrack is that I didn't get the gold valve package, just looked inside the game music, and tried to match it up.

To actually answer your question Kouler, no. It's a real shame when you hit a level load after only hearing half a track, especially the part just after you get the airboat gun.

This is annoying, as the game doesn't even really allow you to hear some good songs unless you stick around a level for no reason and don't let it load the next part.. which sucks because the songs are really awesome, and hearing them in full, at certain parts, would totally enhance the game.

As a side note, in Half Life 1 the music would continue even past a load point.

Yes! This is undoubtably the best example. Does it play "You're Not Supposed to Be Here", the song E32K4 fans will remember in the Coast video? Whatever it plays, it's one of the best songs but it just gets cut off because of how quickly this area is beaten :/
