The Nightmare House

Nightmare House is a small pack of Singleplayer levels. It's focused, as you've probably guessed by now (by its name), on scaring the holy ... out of you. And it did that pretty well, IMO. DooM 3 is a walk in the park compared to this. At first, it may not seem scary at all, bu the further you go... The more tense it gets.

I highly recommend to all of you who haven't tried this out. Those who have, please, keep it spoiler free, however feel free to discuss it.

EDIT: nice installation package! Super easy.

Looks good! I'll wait until after dark to play this with my girlfriend.
 
Tried it last night, not bad... not great either.
 
Woot, the part where the woman hangs herself, scary shit :eek:

And the slave popups, those got the attention of my family when I shouted most profane words.

I started playing it, but I'm not all that into creepy stuff. When I think
that something is deliberately trying to scare me it just gets annoying.

Having said that, I am impressed with the detail I saw in NH so far.

Im stuck on the part with the blood stain on the floor with the baby doll in the middle. wtf am i supposed to do? theres nowhere else to go.

If you are sure there's nowhere else to go, walk around, collect some items, - surely an...alternate way will be created for you.
 
A Single Player map = must have download. Will do and check out.
 
I have downloaded and installed, but how do I play? It is not showing up in Steam like Garry's mod or Substance mod.

That's because it's not a mod. Type map nighnmarehouse 1 into the console or somesuch.

What is the Easter Egg?
The family portrait in the attic?
 
Damn, i have problems with the console. § doesn't work. i never had it work before btw. There is probably some way to do it. Maby its because i got a skandinavian keyboard or something.
 
Keyboard> Advanced> Enable developer console

Thanks, I figured it out after I posted and now I feel like such a n00b.

I didn't even have to use the console, the installer put a nice little shortcut on my desktop! One double click and I was in the nightmare house.

It put several shortcuts in my deskop too, but every time i entered them, i just entered Half-life 2.
 
It wants to install to

d:\program files\valve\steam\steamapps\SourceModsHL2-R8HDRBLOOM\half-life 2\hl2\maps

SourceModsHL2-R8HDRBLOOM........

Tried it out and its pretty cool. Scared my gf out of her seat XD
 
Am I retarded? lol Im stuck I made it to the room with the 2 posion head crabs just after the room with the 3 beds. but I dunno where to go from there. the door wont open and theres nowere else to go. please someone help!
 
well i'll admit i did jump once at the end when:
that white dude just appears in front of you
but after that i didn't. That was probably as good as a scary HL2 map could be made (y)
 
It comes up with a screen that says I need to be a registered member. Damnit. Is there any other way to get it?

wow, i found this map to be quite good. got me jumpin real good a couple times there. this level reminds me of FEAR.
 
That was a good 30 minute experience. I enjoyed it thoroughly. A few spots got me too.
