I havent either, besides the demo ...the remake is coming out sooner or later I'd wait

Its really cheap, you might as well get it. It truly is a corner stone in gaming.
The preowned section is youre freind in game shops.
By the way what is the remake, is it a sequel, does it have a website anyone could link me too?

Oooh I played it a few years ago. In the "stranded in the woods" mission I was so damn clever as well and got to the village and grabbed the car :). I don't remember how it ended exactly but I had some problems on the way, cause there was an enemy patrol shooting the shit out of me even though I was in the car.

In the mission where you have to get to the fort I took some completely different route then the one my squad was going, avoiding the heat :>

One fun thing I remember was when in one mission some choppers flew by and started shooting the tanks (I don't remember whether it were enemy or your choppers) and suddenly two of them crashed in the air. It was not scripted of course. NOT scripted, that's why the game was so great  *khem* unlike CoD 2 whose success I can't understand.

actually it's very hard to find, cant find it anywhere, new or used
the remake is Armed Assault, the sequel is OF 2

I've got the original game but i only ever played the tutorial section and the first mission. The controls i found really hard to get to grips with and some things i just didnt know how to do at all, like crouching or whatever. I'd like to get into it at some point though and play it properly.

yeah i got it too back in the day but my pc was a pos back then so it didnt run well and wasnt the best looking so i just brought it back, sounded the nutz though..

Option - Controls - Edit

CptStern, the sequel ain't "OF2/OFP2" tho.
Atleast that won't be its name, seeing as Codemasters are being assholes and refusing to give Bohemia back the copyright of the name..
So "OFP2" from Bohemia will most likely be called.. I dunno? Armed Assault 2 perhaps?
That wouldn't surprise me..

ya but I didnt know what else to call it

well Gargantou it will be OpFlash 2 in all but name - we'll all know the truth ;)

How come on gamespot there is boht Operation Flashpoint 2 for the PC... and Armed Assault for PC. These are the same games, aren't they?

no ..armed assault is a remake of OFP whereas OFP 2 is a sequel to OFP

ahhh clarity
Well, that's technically not true. As I understand it, BM: Source is a straight remake, but Armed Assault has new additions as well as a new dynamic campaign structure.

1. Black Mesa Source is a mod, Armed Assault is a real standalone game.

2. Armed Assault ain't simply a remake, it's a testing ground for things to come in "Game2"(What Bohemia call OFP2), such as the dynamic single player campaign. It's also testing out the engine limitations by having an entire new island that's the size of all previous islands combined, with several different environments, such as desert, and lush forests etc.

Armed Assault also uses a new graphics engine, albeit afaik not as advanced as the one Game2 will use, it's still atleast a decent step from OFP1.

Clarifications:

1) Armed Assault is being made by Bohemia, the makers of OFP. It is said to be the spiritual "OFP 1.5", NOT just a 1.0 remake. See the press release here for added features http://www.bistudio.com/presspages/ArmA_Progress_Update.html
Of particular interest is the multiplayer section:
- Large, persistent battles.
- 60+ player multiplayer (plus additional AI), players can join at any time.
- Unique game modes introducing modes of play not seen in any other game.
- Cooperative game modes.

ETA is H1 2006, so hopefully within the next 6 months. I for one can't wait.

2) "Game 2", or "NextGen PC Game" is also being made by Bohemia, and will be the spiritual "OFP 2", though it will not be named that way. It may or may not be named Armed Assault 2, we'll see. ETA 2007. It will apparently be a lot more ambitious than OFP, feature a full-fledged dynamic war campaigns, rather than a series of individual missions, with commanding AI giving you orders based on what's going on dynamically. It was featured on PC Gamer UK around June/July last year. I'd link to some scans, but it's not allowed. All I can do is link you to the OFFICIAL site http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ , which incidently has forums, which incidently has a section for Game2, which may or may not have information in some form or another about Game2.

3) The official OFP2 name is owned by Codemasters, the publishers of OFP. I could care less about this game.

Actually, to clarify one thing Llyranor, "Game2" will not feature a TOTALLY dynamic campaign, you see, there will still be scripted missions, which advance the story and to quote what they themselves said "And as in real life, the US always wins in the end"
So we won't probably see say multiple endings etc.
Also to clarify even further.

Armed Assault is not a "totally" new engine etc, but is based of the XB1 port, and uses it's advancements in graphics, AI and physics, and take'em even further.

Hopefully this'll also mean a very well optimized game, seeing as it can't have been an easy job porting such a system hog like OFP1 to the XB1.

Anyway, yeah, head over to the forums, nice bunch there, their main guy in charge of PR has also been very nice, I talked to him a few times on some forums for the game(I.e. the GameSpot forums), nice fella'.:)

Cool stuff, this is what im looking forward to, they need to come out soon cause im in a dry spell.

Anyone who hasn't played the game needs to try out the demos at the LEAST.

There are two demos, one of them being of the xpac Resistance. Get them.

The hardest missions of Op Flash were the black op/spec op ones. I remember an amazing mission where you and 3 other spec ops have to destory a number of enemy tanks in a large base (at night).

It was so difficult I was always spotted, so I creeped into an enemy Hind helicopter, took off and blew everything in the base to pieces.

Amazing game cant wait for the sequel.

Nevermind D:
Made a thread on it instead.

best. game. ever. really, there's not much to say about it except for what everyone's already said. I have to say this is definitely the most intense and terrifying singleplayer experience there is.

Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, beats the feeling of crawling in a couple of bushes completely surrounded by enemy soldiers and hearing a T72 tank roll closer and closer... One rocket left in the Carl Gustav launcher.. am I gonna make it?

..or when you're riding a helicopter and realising you have to eject and paradrop into unsafe grounds with half of your squad dead.

it's like the game pulled everything off, from the huge battles to one-squad size encounters, vehicle versus vehicle battles, everything.

OFP just rules when it comes to the haunting feeling of being alone in enemy territory.

ahh.. i almost feel like reinstalling it..

I wasted so much time making singleplayer missions for it, the options were just endless. and the LAN possibilites!
played coop with my brother on a huge night time map I made, two bases with soldiers and helicopters scavenging everywhere.. It was just so damn fun. when you decide to leave the base and go out scavenging with the jeep in pitch black, just whoa..
My brother often lead a tank divisons while i was leading a sniper squad abit further closer to the enemy spotting and pointing out targets for him to shoot the hell out of.

The scariest moment in any game I've ever played is on OFP when you're crawling across a field, and you hear 'BMP 100' over the intercom, and realize that you dont have an RPG.

I love this game.

I just resumed my campain I started last year. Awesome game, although I was extremly stuck on one level and ended up just putting the speed x4 and running as far away from the village as possible until foxtrot team took the village for me.

Can't wait to get back to it.

Just finished re-installing it. I'll start up in a few minutes.

I've never played this game before. I think I tried the demo once in the past. Think I should try picking it up?

Yes. I wish the updates that were done to XBox release, where also the updates that occured for like, OpFor:Resistance 1.90 :D

I've been hearing good things about this game. Lately, I've been looking for a realistic military shooter. Is this game incredibly realistic? How does it compare to Rainbow Six?

I got this game a couple days ago, I freaking LOVE IT :D

But am I the only one who doesn't like leading his own squad? I like just following orders, even though I love tactics, I don't really want them in an FPS because it distracts too much. I like being led by AI and being given targets :)

Is there any way to give command to a squadmate? Not commands, I mean giving leadership to a squadmate, and let him take your job.

Or can you make a mission in the mission creator where you are just a squad member? That would own.

Downloading FFUR 2006 btw, sounds AWESOME :D

I LOVE THIS F*CKING GAME. I STILL PLAY IT NEARLY EVERY DAY, AND I BOUGHT IT IN 2001.

Wow. LOVELOVELOVELOVELOVELOVE AWESOMEAWESOMEAWESOMEAWESOMEAWESOMEAWESOMEAWESOMEAWESOMEAWESOMEAWESOME

I love Single Player. I love Multi Player. I love the Mission Editor. I love addons.

I'm actually more pumped for AA than Episode one or SiN:Emergence, and that's saying alot. I get out of school about the time they all come out.

I really wish more people appreciated OFP. It's probably underrated because of the Czech developer. Maybe AA will be properly recieved, as it will be more accesible to noobs. GRGRGGRGRGRGR

Sorry for unusually poor post quality, I'm sleep deprived.

Can anyone answer my question? Man, mission builder is going to take a lot of work to do... Bleh :(

And I got that mod FFUR 2006... Why can't I hit things for shit? The accuracy is either really bad or they added a bullet delay or the bullet arcs down or something...

Well anyway, the game can be frustrating sometimes... I hate how you only get one save... And this one mission where I had to seize a base, the one where you call in Bravo squad tanks... And I killed everyone on the whole map, but it wouldn't finish! It sucked, I worked so hard.

It's mostly underrated because Codemasters did such a crappy job promoting it. Probably half the community found out about the game by word of mouth(or text).

@veggie#'s

I know it can be frustrating, but as you get better at manipulating it, it will become the coolest thing since sliced bread.
