Yay! Steam is under my hubby's user name, can I create my own, or do I have to use his?

This is not entirely clear.

If you have Steam games under your "hubby's" account, then creating a new account will not allow you to play them, and you will not be allowed to transfer games over.
You will, however, be able to change his name as it appears in people's friends list, much like a Live Messenger (MSN) screen name.

You could, if you were planning on being an individual and had no games or planned on getting some of your own, create an entirely new account.
