The Party ... party gets my vote!

No idea what you're talking about. Is that a song? You're gonna have to be a bit more clear with me.

And thanks for the suggestion KA, I'll give it a listen. :)

Lol @ Remus. "Can't decide who to vote for? At least be safe in the knowledge that while the economy crumbles around you, the music will be too loud to hear it.

The Party Party."

Nude Twister gets my vote. Also Strip Poker. Anything which involves eventual nudity.
Unless it's a sausage-fest. Then no.

Loli Strip Poker for all under the Meryl administration!

Shy Child's 'Noise Won't Stop' album is a killer.

Saw them live (over a year ago now :O) and they are fantastic. But make sure you have a good mix of music styles. If it's a small party and you all share similar tastes, go for anything. If it's a large party, you'll have to make concessions. I had a party with about 200 people for my 18th a little over a year ago and I had to have a little mix of everything and had to do away with some of my more eclectic choices to ensure people stayed on the dancefloor. And most music, whether you like it or not in the "real world", is great fun when pissed and surrounded by good friends. The good music at my party resulted in it being the talking point among pretty much everyone I know for about 3 or 4 months afterwards. Someone was talking about it the other day in fact.

If it's a large party, be strict with +1s. Make sure it's girlfriends only. Some people will assume +1s means they can bring anyone they want with them. This can result in some unsavoury people. But by all means allow a particularly popular friend bring several members of the opposite sex. An evenly balanced party can, apart from the obvious reasons, really make a party come alive. One of my criteria for a new party is if I met at least 2 new people.

If it's a small party with music, games and films, make sure everyone is happy with the choice. I know it sounds obvious, but sitting for two hours watching a film that only 50% of the room are enjoying really sets the tone for a poor party which may result in people going home early and just generally not enjoying themselves, whatever you do to try and rectify the party later.

Food is a tricky one. Large parties require large amounts of food which is expensive and can get very messy. Bread and butter is cheap and easy to control. After all, breadcrumbs are easy to vacuum up the next day and butter is difficult to spread around.

Providing drinks, regardless of the party size is a big no-no. People can bring their own stuff. It stops fights over who drunk someone else's beer and it makes things cheaper. If you are worried about vomit, limit the amount people can bring or restrict spirits. Most people are good enough to respect your wishes.

Hope this helps.
