I disabled the display of avatars and signatures many, many moons ago, when I was sick of all the visual clutter.

Thus, you're all a visually-homogenous group from my point of view and any semblance of personality -- if you want to call it that -- is solely established by the content of your posts in combination with your member name.

I do not know where the original avatar came from, as I did not design it. But I got it about 6-7 years ago from a friend of mine who played DR then. She had the avatar as her icon, and at one point lost it on her computer. I still had it saved on my computer in my buddy icon folder in the aim directory... and restored it for her. She was so happy that I retrieved it, and I asked her if she would mind or not if I used it as my own too. Had no objections, and to this day i've been utilizing it, giving myself a name wherever I go. People know me universally as the guy with the cute dancing cow avatar

I wish I could figure out the origin place for the little guy, and the artist who made it.

I was e-depressed without an avatar, so I got one. It happened to be the most bitchin metal slug gif I could find online in < 3 minutes

Which is why when people change them it's annoying.

I agree totally. People change their av's and it takes a while to realise who they are. Or maybe that's just me
It can give you an idea of where people are coming from, personality-wise. Same goes for sigs.

Mine hasn't changed too much since I joined. It used to be that pic of Spongebob on a white background, then he got the spatula through his head in respect of The Arena's most infamous weapon and then I added the "A-WOO-GA!" in reference to Kriss Akabusi and this gif I made of him, which was my av for a very brief period.
