In the past, the end user has been made a victim of Sierra's lies and
corruption. Between their past track record for terrible support,
terrible games, and obnoxious dementia from founder Roberta Williams,
Sierra has remained a festering boil upon the penis of gamers
everywhere.

Luckily, a company by the name of Valve managed to almost single-
handedly erase the outstanding record of transgressions with a wonderful
product named Half Life. Combining a top-drawer single player with
easily modifiable multi-player support, players received endless replay
value at the small cost of one purchase.

But all was not well. Valve has decided to recall the days of Sierra's
past crimes, and created STEAM. STEAM is a plague upon gaming for three
reasons-

1- It enables Valve to (at any time) turn a one-time purchase into a
financially parasitic subscription purchase.

2- It has been proven to be unreliable, torturing gamers with arbitrary
crashes and lockups, and forcing them to download gigabits worth of
material that they already posses upon their hard drive.

3- It removes the possibility for 56kers to enjoy their games offline-
forcing them to grow long grey beards waiting for downloads and then
casting them into a laggy realm dominated by broadband players.

The writing is on the wall. STEAM is a revolution- Not in game or patch
circulation, but of schemes carefully concocted by the oppressive
bourgeois to deny a gamer of his enjoyment and of his cash. If STEAM
proves successful, one can kiss the days of free FPS online gaming
goodbye, instead welcoming the new era of subscription services,
limited-time contracts, and proprietary software regulating all means of
choice.

Half Life 2 is the next great project of Valve, as you all know. With
half life 1, Valve set nigh-unreachable standards for quality, support,
and user-friendliness. Now with Half Life 2, many gamers may be
purchasing a product deliberately released with flaws so that gamers can
be sucked into the Steam scheme. They'll connect to steam each month
looking for patches, and each month they'll dole out 5$ in charges.
They'll seek to play HL2 multiplayer, but be ten dollars in the hole
each month thanks to the villainous valve staff.

Friends, we can solve this problem as a team. By joining forces in
peaceful resistance of the Half Life 2 scheme, we can force Valve to
rethink their oppressive intents. I know many of you may balk at the
idea, but I urge you to consider patience. If 2,000 people read this
message, and tell 5 of their friends, who tell 5 of their friends (and
so on), we can successfully put a large enough dent in the first week
sales of HL2. This will be the consumers' message to Valve- that we
lowly plebeians will not be coerced, will not be subjugated, will not be
indoctrinated- We the consumers are an intelligent body capable of
choice who has decided that STEAM is thoroughly unacceptable.

Boycott half life 2. Tell your friends and associates to do the same.
Otherwise, I fear that we will enter a new dark age of corporate robbery
and deciet.

I'm not going to boycott valve just because they want the same thing as everyone else in this world ; money.

well, that stuff made sense......it a VERY wierd and disturbing way, but im neutral on this toipc....no comment...

p.S.- im still getting Half Life 2 :P

stfu you flaming troll , just tell him your opinion, no need to flame him for no good reason , he s having a good point. Its up to you if you decide to boycott it or not if you dont think its worth it.

You're an idiot.

When has Valve ever tried to screw its fanbase? Valve appreciates their fans and realizes their worth. They're not money monsters out to steal your cash. I think they know the problems with Steam and are working towards solutions. All these stupid petitions, rants, and boycotts aren't helping the process. Don't boycott Half-Life 2, that's just stupidity.

... and you really thought this thread would get far in a Half-Life 2 forum?
