I am often motivated to click the "report" button to indicate to mods that there is a thread or a post that requires moderator action, for example closing/merging an unecessary/deprecated thread, or moving one in the wrong section, or some other example of moderator action outside of rudeness. However, the description that comes with our wonderful "Report" button outlines that it's only supposed to be used to alert mods of foul language, behaviour or spam. Feeling that the post or thread in question falls under none of these categories, I give up, leaving the offending article unchecked.

So I'm just attempting to clear up, is the description under the Report Post textbox correct? Should we use the facility to flag moderators to threads that require moderation?

Sure why not, within reason of course. All reports go into a hidden forum and can be seen by all moderators as well as an alert which pops up under our PM information box, so someone will always be on hand to deal with it.

The post reporting is integral for the community, as it helps us help you. It's truly appreciated when members flag things as we can't read everything all the time (as much as we try chaining ourselves to our computers). Moderators will need to evaluate if the report does actually require moderation, but there isn't any harm in trying to make the forums a better place for yourself and everyone else.

Use the reports for anything that requires moderator attention. It's very helpful to us.

Note: This is ONLY to be used to report spam, advertising messages, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts.

So I'll ignore that message, then :p

I imagine thats to discourage "This dood haz a diff opinion to me! BANZOR HIM" type posts.

Holy Sh--! Theres a report tool? I had no idea. well, I must thank you Druckles, for letting me know.

The "Thank you" is what keeps it from being Spam.

Ah yes, it's nice to know we can use it for that too. I recall I was going to put in a report for a Thread that was in the wrong section for a long time, but once I read that "note" I decided not to.
