Meet the Scout is now available on Steam, You can now watch it in HD by copying this link into your address bar: steam://run/5032 or viewing our youtube link here

<3 Valve

The little details are awesome, the facial expressions, how the heavy is desperately grasping at the sandwich right before the scout gives out the killing blow, and how his finger twitches when the scout sits on top of him. Poor heavy, all he wanted was his sandwich :(

'Of you was from where I was from, you'd be f*cking dead.'

The Scout reminds of sort of like the son of a mafia boss.

I think this one was definitely the best in terms of animation. I absolutely loved when the scout was yelling like the heavy while dodging the punches. Best one yet I think.

I do believe that was in all previous "Meet the... " videos ;)

Stellar video, thought the splicing of scenes was great. One second conversation, next the Heavy with the Scout in a headlock.

Both links do nothing for me. :(

Wow never noticed that :D

Aye, fantastic clip. A bit on the short side, but that just emphasizes Scout's speed and succintness.

"'sup?"

Priceless.

short but sweet!!! It seems to me that valve are starting to perfect their facial animation technology... the emotions conveyed by the faces of the characters in that vid was on a par with the best that pixar can do!

That was diff the best in animation. Man these just keep getting better! Cant wait for the feature film!

I'm now hoping for a TF2 movie. haha.

Anyway, I just noticed that in every TF2 video so far, it's been the red counterpart of the character talking.

Huh.

Just noticed that the "group photo" at end of every video has changed slightly from first Heavy video. The current photo has better facial expressions of each class...

The group photo is different for each video.

I'm rather annoyed that the Scout is apparently Eminem.

That was lovely. Agreed the small details are awesome, like the way he just barely touches the camera when he says "I hurt people."

BOIP!

Anyone know how Valve made these videos? Did they really use game engine? Looks like motion capture data used on modified game engine. Just my guess anyway.

A combination of motion capture and faceposer (ingame tools). It's all made on the real game engine, although I thought the depth of field (if any, didn't pay attention) was post-processed.

I'm pretty surprised they used the F-word. Not that it phases me (I swear like a trooper), but it's effectively an advert for the product.

i loved how they only used one scream voice for the fighting videos "Do you even know who i am" "aaaaaaa hgohiandadas aaa" "i mean if you were from were i was from youd be dead" "AAaaa grrr ughhaaa" lol that was great.

Best one so far. The Scout screaming with the Heavy was ****ing awesome.

Yeah, but then it really goes with the Scout's character.

So from where scout is from? Damn US biased developers, for me scout is still just a brat who had too much caffeine.

It's always striked me. Imagine if the video was on: Scout (American) had a political conversation on who's got more oil and who was to win the cold war with the Heavy (Russian). It'd be pretty interesting

Scout: Brooklyn or some New York
Soldier: Stereotypical, cold war abrasive general
Pyro: lol wut
Demo: Scottish
Heavy: Russian
Engineer: Southern US
Medic: German
Sniper: Australian
Spy: French

I must admit I am kind of dissapointed we had to wait this long for this. I wish they'd just churn them out faster instead of spending so much time adding another 100,000 polys to the face.

this was good but the demoman was the best...when he said "looks like they are gonna have to glue you back together!IN HELL!" i lol'd so hard

They bleeped it so I guess that's enough?

Scout is from Boston. Red Sox player, maybe. :)

Valve info:
The youngest of eight boys from the south side of Boston, the Scout learned early how to problem solve with his fists. With seven older brothers on his side, fights tended to end before the runt of the litter could maneuver into punching distance, so the Scout trained himself to run. He ran everywhere, all the time, until he could beat his pack of mad dog siblings to the fray.

Link to this info please?

As someone who lives close to Boston, I can tell you that the accent is from Brooklyn. South Boston is where the characters from Good Will Hunting are from. Watch that movie, then watch some Law and Order. You might be able to hear the difference then. Or maybe it's just cause I live close, kinda like I can't tell you if a particular British accent comes from Manchester or Liverpool, but most of the rest of the world can. ;)
