The Scout Update: CP_Egypt and more!

The next stage of the Scout Update reveal has been...well revealed. CP_Egypt is a new Dustbowl style control-point style map with a focus on vertical space in a very Egyptian styled setting. Check out some of the awesome images of this new map below:[br]<div align="center">

</div>[br]In addition to this, Valve have gone and given us the full descriptions of the Scout's new achievements. Can't wait for the map to be released and video is great!
 
It sounds like the new scattergun is going to have a hell of a push back/blow back after firing.
 
Map looks okay. At least it's a new environment. Not very pretty though.
 
So it seems the new scattergun gives the scout a vertical advantage, I wonder then what the Sandman and Shotty combo will be like, no double jump but the abillity to blast urself up to places?
 
Looks like no new "Meet the..." video this time. #5 will be the Scattergun unlockable, and #6 will be the new game mode, and new maps.

The "ascend rapidly with new Scattergun unlockable" is quite intriguing though. Also, "Dodgers 1, Giants 0"? Can the Scout actually take the Sandvich now? That would be awesome.

You can pick up health by running over them when a heavy drops them upon dying.

I don't think they'd tease a new game mode with the promo images for the Scout update, and then just leave us hanging when the update comes out. It sounds like the "Meet the..." team is working on a comic series now or something anyway.
 
lol at Americans thinking that some old ruins count as "Egyptian".

A true Egyptian TF2 map would last only 5 minutes before all the characters die from air pollution. Also they'd have no ammo because they wasted it all on tips and bribes while getting there.

Hmmmm well it's still up in the air but the background image to the energy drink unlockable does show two payloads going in the opposite direction. It's possible it's just a new payload map, or a new gamemode "payload race" but regardless they wouldn't add that background if it wasn't going to be releases in this update. That means the new scatter gun "Force-A-Nature" is one and the other can only be map / gamemode.

I don't know why you think them hinting at the new game mode means it will definitely be in this update. I didn't even think it was that obvious. Once some one mentioned it I realized it was more than just a blurred Goldrush A, but still I don't see more than 30% of people noticing it. If anything, I think hinting would be much more important if it were far off, and kind of pointless if we were to get details on it in 4 days.
 
i'm willing to be that the Force-A-Nature (new shotty) will carry a really short load, like maybe two shots per each reload, but be wayyyyy more powerful than the stock shotty. i'm almost thinking double-barreled shotgun, firing one barrel at a time.
 
Well we know it has an 'blow back' feature Malfunction, like the pyro's flamethrower air blast perhaps. We can see this from the achievement descriptions:

Fall Classic: Cause an environmental death or suicide using the Force-A-Nature's knockback.
 
i was just playing one of those achievement maps and it was crazy. i'm trying to get the million pts for the pyro and i'm almost done. also need a few easy ones i just haven't gotten around to trying

It could just give a good knockback with it's primary fire. With the double jump and aiming it at the ground it might propel yoursel upwards.

I've played Eygpt before, it's a pretty fun map which really does use verticle space a lot. It's a tough map for BLU, especially the last point.

I wasn't a fan of Fastlane but I'm sure I'll take another look at it post-update at some point.
 
Honestly... that post made me give one solid facepalm followed by staring at this post and re-reading a few times...
 
You guys are so awesome with your images, and you over-reacting. How can I ever measure up? ;)
 
I think it means hitting a scouts ball back at him with your own bat. Most likely possible during the opening spamathon of scouts.

CP_Eqypt is a good map but it should never been made official.

TF2 now takes place in Africa!!!
It doesn't fit the game style and I think Valve is going over the top.
 
The updates are starting to remind me of TFC.

I've heard rather mediocre things about cp_egypt
 
Perhaps you get the beanball achievement by using the Force-A-Nature, like the combustion blast.

And the image for Fall Classic is a circular saw. I'm starting to think the Force-A-Nature is some sort of portable power tool that can kill enemies from behind with one hit. At the very least, we know it has knockback.
