The sounds of space (eerie)

It's good to know when we go deep space exploring, it will feel like exploring Xen or LV-426.

saturn is creepy. effin creepy. Like a skelekton whispering into your ear. Also Neptune sounds like water?!

Okay someone explain this, Im pretty sure theres no such thing as sound in space?

Sound is just the vibration of molecules, which there are none of between planets.

Ergo, hoax anyone?

It's probably just some waves that they catch and process into sound.

If I wrote an algorithm to process the vibrations of hair on my head into sound, it would probably make an eerie sound as well. Then I'd tell you "this is what Venus sounds like" and you'd be all like "space is amazing".

Its not soundwaves they're catching though, they're catching electromagnetic waves and making sound out of that.

Jupiter sounds like the background ambience in the original red faction. And Saturn sounds almost exactly like LV-426. Coincidence , or is Jupiter now Mars and Saturn now infested with xenomorphs? Its a conspiracy people!

As has been pointed out, it picks up the electromagnetic waves. I doubt its a hoax, as NASAs probe picked this up.

That's cool. Reminds me of the movie Sunshine.

I find it fascinating that in most of the videos you can hear a whirring sound in the background, like a vacuum, and that each of these seems to echo a bit. Like these waves are bouncing off of other objects in space and coming back. Simply breathtaking if you dig deep into it.

Clearly fake, it's just some guy with a Crystal VST and a reverb plugin.

brb sampling saturn

Neptune sounded like a boiler room to me, Saturn reminded me of a modem logging on but stretched out, and Jupiter is the best piece of trance I heard in a long time. Add some beats and sound effects, although not too much, and you're good to go.

Yeah, this is bull. Jupiter as well as lots of other planets and moons and stellar phenomena gives off radio waves and electromagnetic waves that could be translated into sound, but there's no way in hell they'd sound this... cool. The real "sounds" of space sound a lot more like broken radio sets and dial-up modems.

This, pretty much.

I like how Saturn just for some unknown reason has a very distinguishable lofi type effect on it.

Shit like this is a serious pet peeve of mine. People eating up any bullshit thrown at them. Whatever signals they're converting into sound (if that part is even true) is going through so much processing that it ceases to be worth anything.

Oh my ****. I hit play on the first video, then went to another tab and totally forgot about the video. After awhile I thought I just was hearing my roomate playing some game or movie loud, so I turned on some music, but I could still hear it. So I turned up the volume louder, and louder, and realized it was coming from my computer. Thats my my face did this:

Then after awhile of listening and wondering that the hell was happening to me and my computer, I got super creeped out and my whole body slowly turned to this:

Creepy...but how can they hear anything? Space is a vacuum and sound needs a medium to travel through.
