I started the "what is your age" thread, because I wanted to know how old people are in here, and I'm sure other people would find it interesting too. Don't try to jump on the "I hate spam" bandwagon without thinking first. I don't care if you don't want to know how old people are in here.

I suppose you don't like the "help- I can't install steam" threads either, because they don't concern you.

You could actually just report every single spam post you see.

thats another thing that needs to be brought up, people that dont take a few seconds to search around for the topic that they are going to post...

Actually you can't really search for that, "age" and "old" (As in "How old are you") are all 3 letter words, which are filtered through in a search for being too short.

I think that you should get one and only one warning about spamming after that you get banned for like 10 days then the next time if you still spam you get banned FOREVER. That is my take on this issue

I do warn people, and when they persist they get banned for three days.

But yeah, warning system would help for those who aren't quite bannable, but still need some kind of punishment.

Heres an idea. How about creating a spamming forum, where your post count does not increase, but all other forum rules still apply. I've seen it on other forums and its worked great. Most of the memorable moments have been in the spamming forums on other sites. It also keeps the community alive.

Many peeps have been going by that method for a while, and lets face it, its not working out.

Okay, how about opening up a "spamming forum" for 2 weeks. The admins and moderators can see how it goes, if they still don't agree, they can close it down for good - no questions asked. If they change their minds, and agree its a good idea, leave it open.

Either way, no harm done.

That wasn't the point of the suggestion. It was an idea of tackling spam, since it doesn't seem the amount of spam in General Off-Topic is going on a downfall. And there is no need for the hostility in your post, since this is "Site Feeback", isn't it?

This reminds me of the HALFLIFE 2 IS GOLD!! forum That was quite fun. You really could spam anything you wanted as long as it had to do with HL2 going gold. We had "show off your gold avatar" threads, and all that jazz... Funny that we didn't have one for HL2's release.
