mostly a dev interview on how the mega texture works, vehicles etc but interesting nonetheless. After not getting into the bf2142 beta (and hearing mostly negative reactions from those who have) this game couldnt come fast enough ..wont be in 2006 ;(

Another reason to upgrade. The ironic thing is, after upgrading I won't have enough money to buy all these upgrade-worthy games.

Actually I remember reading that this game is fairly easy on the system requirements, not 100% sure though.

And yeah, it looks really good. If it turns out like I hope it will then this may be my favorite online game since Renegade.

Yeah, its looks like they're doing a lot of "more with less" things graphics-wise. Its not stunning, but its damn good.

Looking very nice :)

My main concern is that all this vehicle action is going to take away from infrantry battles. Change is good, though, and some indoor action has been promised.

Atleast one in-depth level preview definently indicated large indoor environments. Any game with vehicles needs both fighting environments, as well as a host of ones favoring mixed action to keep you entertained, so hopefully they will include alot of variation in their maps.

Of course, there is always the old Disallow Vehicles mod/option & user-created maps if they don't.

That second picture just looks weird though. Must be the angled perspective...

Definently a game to look forward to, gogo 2007!

this game is better than crysis and bf2142 imo

Cant wait for this 2142 is shit...

Graphics don't make a MP game good. FFS, the best MP game today is CS 1.6 and that's almost 9 years old now. First thing anyone wishing to play competitively in this game will do is turn everything to low except shadows. Eye candy is a disadvantage 99% of the time.

Most people will be playing for fun, and want all the eye candy. I used to play rtcw and et religiously and had a config that, while making it easier to 'compete', made the game look like complete shite. When playing on public servers and having a laugh with mates I'd switch back to a config that maxed everything as it made the experience a whole lot more enjoyable. Towards the end I stuck with this - tweaking your config can make things easier, but not by a great deal, and not enough to lose what gives a game much of its character.

Really? CS is the best MP game today?, Funny I thought that was based on opinion.

He's still right imho max35, even though CS 1.6 might suck, graphics don't make the multiplayer game.

..especially not this plastic fantastic bullshit

This looks infinitely better than Counter-Strike.

That's because Counter-Strike is crap.

Good god the video game culture has some serious fanboyism!

I honestly dont see why people think these graphics are so amazing. The textures are suckass.

Whats so great about the gameplay?

Thats not being sarcastic... its a serious question.

I want it! D:

I'm assuming that the gameplay with be like Wolf: ET, fast and furious... with a whole lot of team work, thus it should be good.

Gameplay promises to do a few things, but it's mainly objective based gameplay ala Enemy Territory (Wolf Universe), except with a variety of vehicles with creative advantages and disadvantages. The teams are asymmetrically balanced (though, granted, this original selling point has been diminished somewhat), and it's not made by EA. It's the Battlefield Series + objective gameplay done right, in an original setting. What more can you want?

I still haven't forgiven them for violating their own naming convention however. Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, to Enemy Territory: Quake Wars. Which is why I henceforth refer to them with a convention of my own choosing.

I think they were going for a campaign style, in which wins or losses in a series of maps affects certain things later on.

However, chances are the game will be destroyed by kids who just want to get the best score, like every other attempt at a teamwork oriented game. Yay for competing *against* your allies instead of helping each other.

MP Beta/Demo coming soon iirc, though the delay may have increased "soon," to: "soon." Note the difference there.

Counterstrike isn't, wasn't, and never will be the best MP game. Because guess what, Community plays a role in MP, and CS has ****ing records for worst community ever. It's followed at a moderate distance by the Battlefield series. I hold great respect for VALVe as developers, but they made a monster by officializing Counterstrike, even if it did greatly encourage modding for all genres.

It's a combination of BF2, UT2004 something something and QUAKE. With mixed combat (indoor/infantry-only/vehicle battles). Have you seen the video?
