On our forums we commonly get people enquring what on earth "test 1" and "test 2" is all about. Quite frankly we can forgive them for not using the Search button on this one as both forum threads that contain the information about these tests accumulate to nearly 70 pages of posts.[br]

So for the uninitiated of you out there, HLFallout's MrChimp has written a detailed guide on what it's all about.

Lanthanide decrypts the viewable part of a URL which was also written on the white board in ROT13. The unencrypted URL is "...Life2.com/secret/pwn3d" which left people guessing what the first part was. Lanthanide presumed it was www.halflife2.com which proved incorrect. That particular URL is owned by Gamespy Networks and is unrelated to Valve. The real URL was revealed after a forum member e-mailed Valve and received a reply stating the real text as www.half-life2.com ( the official HL2 web site).[br]

Upon entering the correct URL, people were greeted with a user name and password box.

just read that and it cleared EVERYTHING up for me.. maybe they'll make a test that saysthat HL2 has gone gold... but according to that Valve employee HL2HP isn't a test.. its just amini game.. but hey... maybe it will stiill have the announcment

Nice article, it made some things clear I didn't understand before

edit: I was just thinking this is a kind of IRL adventure game. Cool uh? And this is also one of the things in what Valve differs from the other developers.

Don't know if anyone tried this out, but I noticed that the three options on the hl2.php where lettered a,w and d, which are the three keys used for control in a fps. So then I wondered where is the missing s?

I sent a message to Chris Bokitch at Valve earlier asking if there were any words not found yet and he said that the list here has everything found so far "up to this point".

Hopefully that means I can stop typing random words in for a few days on the hope of finding something new!

My phase 6 won't preload still...I've restarted my steam client a million times, and I've emailed buncha ppl for help, but still no responses...
Everytime I try to select HL2, it just says preload is still complete...what the hell is goin on?

I think his comments were more related to why you are posting about this in a completely unrelated thread. Best advice is to start a new thread in the support forum and see whats going on. Additionally, a quick look through the Steampowered.com forums and there are a few people having the same problem, maybe you should check out those threads to see if there is anything that can help you there.
