The bands/artists that rose most drastically in my rankings this year were:

#1. Radiohead: I started to discover just how brilliantly inventive and re-inventive they were.
#2. Neal Morse: I'd never heard of him before April; now, I think he creates the most incredible song arrangements on the planet.
#3. Sigur Ros: no explanation needed.

My three favourite bands changed this year to Delirious?, RPM, and Radiohead; there's no change in the top spot from last year...
