Interesting aricle, fail Microsoft so.

Honestly sometimes i wonder if the PS3 had a similar RROD fault what the reaction would be from wii60 fanboys, they would be all over it, yet the reaction so far to the 360's RROd has been relatively tame imo, i think it's outrageous tbh that the flaws were let get through testing.

Nothing new really. This only tells me I'm not going to buy the Xbox 3.

At least it gave us a lulz.

Your loss hunnybunnysugarpumpking.

Anyway, end story, ALL mega-large corporations ****s over the consumers, it pretty much comes with the territory.

Remember, in the end, the sole priority for a company like Sony or MS, is to make profit.:>

If anything it makes me want to buy an xbox 3 if they fix the 360's problems.

Yup, I'm still buying the Xbox 3. Anyway, I've never encountered the RRoD, and my red ring which was different was my fault, so I don't see what the problem is. Also, my old console was a launch one, but it never got the RRoD.

Same here my launch console just got repaired but from a different issue.

I had my console from launch December 2k5, it broke down Q3 2k7, not from RROD, but all I had to do was walk down to the store with my machine and receipt, a few weeks later(less than a month), I had a completely new 360 machine, free of charge.:>

You say that, but I don't know anyone with a PS3 or Wii that has had one fail yet. Of the people I know that own 360's, the majority of them have failed.

Here's a newsflash - your 360 won't work in 1-2 years. Think about that.

Of course all companies are out for profit, but that doesn't change the fact that some still produce higher quality products than others. My SNES, N64, and PS2 all still work perfectly fine ... such a short lifespan for an expensive high end consumer product is ****ing unacceptable.

Yeah but it's got such good games :D

This is the reason I own a 360

My mate was gonna buy a PS3 a few days back, and I thought "Oh cool, I'll be able to play PS3 and 360 games :) ) but after we ran through the whole list of PS3 exclusives we couldn't find one worth getting (Uncharted looked awesome, but paying $400 for a single-player game is stupid) so he eventually settled on a 360. Oh, and we didn't even look at the Wii because we aren't big Nintendo fans

Such a wise choice

I love my box and all but some of the faulty shit gets me worked up I want my system to run fine so I can play damn it. Yesterday I had a four hour session of cod4 and it froze on me after a match and I had to shutdown and reboot. This made me get out of my zone and I didnt feel like playing anymore. I know four hours of gaming on a 360 is pretty long. But hey I feel I should be able to game for atleast a whole couple of days before a crash arises.

Oh, and let's totally ignore the fact that MS as a company has far less experience with making consoles than Sony and Nintendo.

You know what's unacceptable?
Fanboiz!

I wish they'd all fall on their giant fanboy penises, break them, and die from bloodlust.

Thank God for being able to afford all three major consoles each gen <3

They've been making computers for far longer than Sony have been making consoles, and the 360 is a computer inside a fancy box.

Are you trying to call me a fanboy? You're defending a company for producing a faulty product, in a thread that was inspired by an interview with a MS employee stating that they knew it was faulty when they rolled it out but didn't care because they wanted to beat their competitors to market. You justify it by saying they have less experience making it, as if it's unfair for me to complain that my $400 piece of hardware is now useless because they're new at it. This was their second console ... like I said my SNES (Nintendo's second console) and PS2 (Sony's second console) still work fine.

I absolutely love Mass Effect, and would have probably bought a 360 for the promise of that and its sequels if it wasn't for the hardware issues. Hopefully it receives a PC port.

Microsoft has very little experience in making computers. Microsoft does not make computers. Microsoft makes software for x86 computers.

Sony also builds a lot of software, ranging from small electronic devices to console systems.

The 360 is a 3-core PowerPc Computer inside a fancy box.
The Ps3 is a 1,6 Asymmetric Power PC Computer inside a fancy box.
The Wii is a 1-core PowerPc Computer inside a fancy box.

They all have graphic cards from ATI or Nvidia. They all have processors from IBM. They all have motherboards. They all have ram. 360 and Ps3 can use a hard drive.
Microsoft is just experienced at making software. Sony is a lot more experienced at building hardware than Microsoft.

Your argument makes no sense. Sure the 360 is a computer inside a fancy box. Then again so is the Ps3 and Wii. If anything, moreso with the Ps3 in that the Ps3 runs Linux without modification.

Yeah but it's got such good games :D
Hahha! I have exactly 3 games for my 360. I have 4 for my PS3. I have 9 for my Wii now. If what this article says is true then it is their own fault they cost themselves over a billion dollars in repairs and a lot of egg on their face on the Net. FTM != console war victory.

I've never had RROD yet. As a matter of fact, my Xbox 360 has never been warm and I've had it since Christmas.

Hahaahaha... four hours, what a pussy!

Yeah I know i cant blieve my 360 gave in after four hours straight part of reason why I stopped :P. When I first got ff10 for the PS2 I played 3 hours straight then a 30 min break with the system still on and continued through the rest of the night through early morning which was like 5 hours. I guess my box needs to go through boot camp, the little pansy, lol.

That was a very interesting read. I have a launch 360 and have had no problems (please no jinx!) But my friends died like 2 times.

I played for 14 hours straight, several times. Playing Mass Effect, one time playing Bioshock, another time playing Ace Combat 6, and another playing rock band/Gh3.

my god that is impressive, crazy shit going. Did you feel crappy the next day? Did you even wake up the next day?!

I'm worried... I haven't been playing my xbox 360 lately, and still nobody has told me whether or not I was supposed to send something in in order to get a warranty(is it implied, or something you have to take steps to obtain?). I still have my receipt from best buy for it.

I haven't been playing it so I am worried that when I finally get around to playing it more and it dies on me that I'll be past the warranty stage. god that'd suck.

If it does break on you, all you need to do is answer Yes to the Red Ring question on the online dealy for setting up a replacement and it won't cost you anything. At the moment you don't need proof of purchase I think but since you still have your Best Buy receipt then you should be fine if its within the 3 year extension thing.

Well I bought mine on...

April 18th 2007. So here's hoping it doesn't shit out before 2010. Or rather, here's hoping it does so I can get a new one? I don't know which is better for me. :E

I keep the receipt along with my newegg receipt for my computer(this computer) from 2003.

I'd hope it does break before your warranty goes out!;)

Over here in Sweden we have 2 years guaranteed warranty on consumer items, i.e. we have a fully legal right to take it back and get it replaced free of charge if it breaks down on its 'own' within 2 years of purchase, mine broke down around Summer 2k7, got a completely new base-unit(i.e. the 360 console, premium version, no joypads etc ofcourse, because I already have those) completely free of charge.;)

Also, when I got that 360, I got another 1 year extra warranty for that one.

I have a love/hate relationship with my Xbox. I've had my fair share of faults, enough so that I've seriously considered selling/getting rid of it on multiple occasions just to avoid the frustration (next time's probably gonna be the time, but hopefully I can get a little more out of my extended warranty). But asides from that, I love pretty much everything about the little ****er. Great games, great controller, great online support, the best interface a console has seen yet (probably - can't comment on the PS3's, but then I don't care to).

Anyway, the article seems pretty legit, but I try not to get worked up over anything unconfirmed on the net anymore, so eh. The one thing that did piss me off a little was the way he said the repair "cycle" worked. I've just managed to get a replacement for my original (probably Xenon) Xbox, and it's a nice new one that seems to run alot better and quieter. If this one kicks the can and I get another crap one in it's place, I shall be thoroughly pissed.
