was on a server last night that had a mod where if you are killed by a teamate you can choose how to punish him from a pop up menu ...some of the punishments were hilarious ...one punishment turned the player into a beacon, literally ...you have these huge rings eminating from you as you run around the map. Everyone knows exactly where you are.

Another punishment is that when the tk'er respawns he's turned into a ticking timebomb that explodes in a massive arc killing everyone within reach ...seems effective but people got sidetracked from the game as they had fun with the punishment system
 
Yeah. Mani Admin Plugin. It's great when it works properly.
 
its been on lots of css servers for a while
admins use beacon to flush out campers usually
 
I hate that exploding shit. You punish someone because he is an TKer and you give him the ability to kill even more people by making him into a living Bomb which kills evryone around you in a ****ing big radius. :(
 
When that's on it gives you an incentive to TK... I've actually used it to help my team out before. There was a group of Germans camping around a corner. I TK'ed someone to get the bomb... then, I waited for the timer to almost run out before sprinting around the corner into the group. BOOM. I didn't know there were suicide bombers in WWII.
 
it's great, until you realise people just abuse it, when somebody accidentally tk's and then isn't given the chance to apologise before the guy blows him up, that's just pathetic:

"zomg, someone tk'ed me, my kd ratio, my poor kd ratio, it's changed by like a percent, bastard, i'll show him........ boom"

it's a great idea in theory but in practice it only works if the people playing on the server are mature enough not to abuse it

Yea it's manimod.. but this was around in most DoD servers through admin/amx mods back in the day too.

what if the guy chose not to punish you? or save the punishment for later? never intentionally tk someone...that's just stupid
 
It adds nothing useful to the game. It just encourages people to play around with it by TKing. I don't ever TK on normal servers... but it's fun to do on those servers. The only way to ever prevent TKing is to turn off friendly fire. Short of that, the best you can do is to only do bad things to the person that is being punished... like severely handicapping them for a while, taking away their weapons, kicking them, etc. If someone wants to TK and you turn them into a human bomb you're just HELPING them TK more people. It's like giving the death penalty for attempted suicide.
 
Wtf, people really like those tk-punishments?! :D Don't you think it slightly decreases the overall realism and feeling of the game when a giant laser beam from the sky suddenly freezes half of the people on the server? I think it's just irritating. At least on all finnish servers I've played on the tk-punishment system has been reduced to forgive and nothing, with kick on 3 tks and ban on 6 or something.
 
It's good so long as the server also has a Ban/Kick rule if you TK too much. Gets rid of the losers who just want to tk to bomb their own team.
 
yah, im getting sick of all the TK'rs in DOD:S... but it never gets old blowing them up and what not.. fun times
 
I remember that beacon feature in an anti-camp plug in for Quake Three.

I once also saw it in original CS, killing that camper brought people a large sum of money so everyone just raced to do him in.
 
What happened to the punishments like blind, drug, and whatnot?
 
The ideal TK punishment system is this : 10 seconds after the TK, a window pops up on the victim asking "forgive y/n". if the tker isnt forgiven he gets a tking ticket. After X tickets (server var) the Tker gets the end round no guns effect (maybe he should be allowed to melee?) and a beacon, so he doesnt camp somewhere dark. :D
 
I accidentally punished someone with a freeze bomb (I meant to just blind him, but hit the wrong key) and it was right at a full cap. So when the team respawned I sprinted out, and he went off. Only like 2 of 18 people made it out without being frozen. They all had to kill themselves, and by the time they did the axis were at our second flag and wondering where we were.

I lmao, and then appoligized.
