Is anyone else intrigued by this. I like most of what the history channel puts out, and this is no exception. They really go into a lot of detail about different aspects of our universe.

This thread made me go on a youtube video watching spree about space stuff :D

Thought this was interesting:

They never explained or even gave a theory about why the earth might be expanding. Sounds like BS, just the way the guy puts it out as a theory against "scientists". Oh yeah, and the end stuff about therefore the Earth is the centre of the universe.

Cool movie, And why would scientists keep this from the public.

And about the question about how the earth is expanding, I think the narrator said something about a stone being twice as dense as granite thats becoming less dense, therefore the expansion, there is meteors, comets and radiation too.

Too bad the guy talks just like every other crack pot. "The powers that be don't want you to know that the Earth is expanding". It's a big frickin conspiracy. Governments are based around this fundamental secret. Why would people want to deny that, and why would the Earth be expanding? If meteors are doing it, there would be no stretching of the brittle surface. Meteor bombardment would only accrue piles of material on the surface. And they are talking about the Earth more than quadrupling in volume. Sounds implausible to me without some sort of core fusion reaction in the centre of the Earth to be heating it up, and the Earth is definitely not hot enough or massive enough to support fusion.

People have complained that some of the episodes were pretty doom and gloom, but I thought the episode where they explained a bunch of different space disasters was pretty interesting. There's also one about Alien Galaxies coming out soon.

My limited physics knowledge is telling me doppler red shift
