Sorry if I've missed out any possible Gman identities, but I've got the 10 that i can think of currently. Hope they'll do.

So which is it, THINK before you go ahead and make your choice. 11days to go, we'll see who's correct about Gman's identity/purpose.


If you actually know the true answer of this, please DO NOT SPOIL the game for the rest of us.

Please, if you want to discuss spoilers, discuss them elsewhere.

I'm not too fussed about anyone stating why the believe Gman is <whatever> aslong as they put high-potential-spoilers in the spoiler tags. But NO SPOILERS. If you know facts about GMan in Hl2, please dont post them.
 
Gordon from alternate reality/parallel universe.
 
This is a dangerous poll because there are people out there that know and a poll like this will only encourage them to speak out.
 
Please move this to Rumors And Speculation before something bad happens.

This is very dangerous to discuss... I say the average government man.. OR the Combine associated choice... Those sound right...

But it definatly has NOTHING to do with Gordon.. That's rediculus...

Would have been nice for this to be an actual poll...

I'd say a man on his own mission. Probably fighting the Xen, manipulating Gordon to do it for him for some reason.

it is audio. You can say its nothing to do with Gordon and that it's *ridiculous well maybe it is, but we don't know, it could well be!

man on his own mission. hes gonna use gordon until the end and you will hvae to escape your end when he doesnt need you anymore and wants to kill you
 
I thought either a man on his own mission, because why in the world would he be working for the Combine or Breen, then have you try to bring them down? Same deal with Xen. I said he might be a robot for two reasons:

I think there will be robotic enemies, besides scanners and hacks, in HL2.

And the other reason being the extremely weird way the G-Man talks. The way he states things sounds almost as if he was just told how to speak those words a few hours ago.
 
it just occured to me, from reading the speculations articles (hlfallout.net) that in order to open a portal, you need some big@ss machine (which has its own power supply). Just remember that huge machine you send the chrystal in at the beggining of hl1.(i think all of the above are known facts, right?)

also the xen aliens are supposed to be able to create portals for themselves at will, as they have that chrystal thingy flowing in their blood.(is this also a known for sure fact?)

we also know that the gman always has a handy portal to escape in, or for you to step in (should you accept his offer).
and lastly, dont forget that the gman is supposed to have manipulated bmrf scientists to get the merger or xen/earth to happen.

are you starting to put 1 and 1 together...? :farmer:

Most of those would be cool, but I guess parallel universe for no real reason.
 
i voted man on his own mission but i just figured out robot

its a sure fact his a robot, they kinda tell ya in HL1, because when you shoot at him you get the tin-ny sound and sparks fly off, its so obvious

well, it'd be kinda of funky if you did manage to kill him 1 hour into the game (In hl1).

How do we know they will let us know more about the G-Man?
 
He cant be Gordon. One of the alternate endings in Hl1 was the Gman sending Gordon to his death :p

My take on the Gman is that hes just yer average conspiratory government poppetdoll person wich likes being an a**hole to people feeling empowered by hes work. Well thats my take on it.

Also, I want it noted for future reference that merely typing "official" in the threads topic does not actually make it official, you have to run commercials have it linked to in all the other forums, have a guy from valve post on the thread and idealy make a little song about it first.

Not one person knows his true identity, even script readers...so if anyone says some crap about gman...it simply isnt true
